That's actually not true. Otamendi was signed in January 2014 but sent out on loan for 6 months. Mustafi was signed as the Mathieu replacement.

I also feel Otamendi is overrated and did not do too much better than Mustafi defensively.

Better than Mangala and definitely better than demichelis. Him and kompany could be solid.
