If league officials decided to end the league for good but wanted to determine a champion, they would need to take the rankings after 19 games.
Just a thought. But anyway, no matter what happens there is no bad outcome for Barca in any scenario. We will be crowned champions if there is one.

Let's hope the season ends now.

If the suspension lasts more than a month, this season should be just cancelled and make no champion/winner season. Deciding the champion based on the current table is the lamest thing ever.

It could be an asterisk season or just have playoffs in June or July to decide the league. There are many options. I personally prefer playoffs as there’ll be a lot more excitement to the matches

The problem with finishing the league in the summer will be the players' contracts. Many end on 30th of June. There will be huge problems if games from this season are played in July or later.

They won't just crown the first placed team champions, whether this happens in La Liga,Premier League or the NBA.

Secondly,it is almost certain that the leagues won't start again any time soon,so there's no way that they'll be able to finish the seasons with the established rules, unless they have games well into summer(which could happen if the Euros/Copa America/Olympics are cancelled),which would be lame and it would fuck up the next season.

So.having some sort of playoffs is the only possible solution.Which again is somewhat unfair,as it radically changes the league's rules.

In my opinion, all leagues should just skip crowning a champion. It's not the end of the world. Still, there would be problems regarding the european qualification and relegation spots.

Anyway, there is also a considerable chance that it won't be possible to play games even next Autumn,so all this discussion is kinda pointless.

Very good point, totally forgot about that.

I still don’t see the problem with just crowing the champion but having an asterisk next to the season in record books. It’s what the NBA does when there’s a lockout season (see Miami heat in 2012).

Playoffs could also solve a lot of problems. Two legged competition between all teams still eligible point wise to take the title and it could be done in a month or less since I believe there’s less than 10 teams at this point eligible to be first place

would prefer to properly finish this season and then for example shorten the next season

No way Tebas won't try to finish the season whenever possible, there is just too much money on the line.

But health and safety first. Thankfully almost all major football and other sports leagues/federations have realized how serious problems we're dealing with and did the right thing (probably still a week or two too late though).

If the EC 2020 is postponed to next year like it should be then there might still be a window to decide the league.

It would also be best if all European Leagues take a similar course of action.

Not really possible.

Let's say the Coronavirus outbreak in Spain can't be stopped but in France everything is under control, why should Ligue 1 not be played while La Liga is still suspended. European Leagues are under their respective government and the public health is the biggest concern.

As a note for future hygiene, you Mediterranean mugs need to a) wash; b) stop hugging and kissing all the time; c) actually listen to people trying to quarantine things instead of turning up in places en-masse just to be a rebel.

Be like Brits - nobody even says hi, much less shake hands with one another in the office most times
