Josep Maria Bartomeu

Wow. Has he gone full retard with his comments?

He's essentially saying we're better off without La Masia.

¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
Hopefully that will lose him a significant number of votes.

Youngcules translated Bartomeu's speech:
.@jmbartomeu: "This year, something has happened to Barça B which is not good. Maybe they were very young."
.@jmbartomeu: "Many have thought that they were world stars, but they must know that they are in the process of developing."
.@jmbartomeu: "It is a mistake to make them [B players] both train with the first team, making them play friendlies and debut in cup games."
.@jmbartomeu: "La Masia solution? Return to work discreetly, make it less transparent and talk less about Barça B and youth football."

elections aside (screw that guy) , it's not necessarily a bad thing to be relegated. Possibly there has been way too much hype about barça B among the players. Maybe they get too expectant or something. I'm all for a quiet masia.

Why would that lose him votes?

He is probably right in what he is saying but maybe should have been doing a bit more about it than before this season.

Since the great generation of La Masia players came through over ten years ago now maybe there has been too much focus on the players from an early age and too much hype given to them.

There has not been a La Masia player since Messi that has been in the system since a young age that has established themselves as a first team starter.

Because they got relegated. Eusebio had some authonomy, he screwed things up and now's the time to see what went wrong. Some youngsters got too cocky, Barto was right.
Not the end of the world, Barca B played even in lower division during Laporta.

There is nothing odd in them.

Only complaint could be is why say those things now and not address the issues before.

Nothing odd? How are you going to make B-players ready for the first team if you're neither gonna let them train with the first team nor play them in cup games and minor league matches?

Yeah nothing odd.

I doubt he is speaking about completely ruling out B team players training with first team or playing in cup games etc but wait until they are ready to make a contribution to first team rather than force it.

The idea being that players getting too much exposure before they are ready is not good for their ego and development.

We had players hyped even when the team relegated to 4th division GDS and Bojan in 2007,in fact those was the most hyped player in this team history b4 playing a game .Messi and Iniesta was the latest promoted from La Masia and it looked like every talent will be the next gr8 thing .with early years youtube era etc those 2 guys was overhyped as it gets
La Masia will never be quit anymore tbh ,it is very hyped and now with youtube and people obbsession with football manager and everyone thinking he is gr8 scout in the making there will be always hype

BUT I think Segunda B is the perfect place to develope players but for different reasons
Players at that level will still play against men ,experienced men who are physically mature and that is an important experience for them
On the otherside it take pressure from them ,it is a good level to develope unlike Segunda who is too good

Also a coach in Segunda is well .... a coach in Segunda .he will always eye results 1st and foremost .its a chance to get a contract with another team in Liga .players development would be 2nd in his rating .
And if a coach decide to just put players developing 1st it would mean bad results in most cases and he got fired
Eusebio is actually a good coach ,he got gr8 results for the team he had in his 1st 3 years.finishing 3rd in 2014 is nothing but quit an achievement . while the team gone bad last year it was still better than Vinyals and it was more due to the fact we gone full youth with average age almost just 20
but while many players improved he wasn't the best in developing playerfor a team that actually there for players development solely. i think he deserve a job in a team in Segunda or even in a club in a good league (like Eredivisie )

Bottom line ,in Segunda a B team lose its stance from reserve team to a professional team ,if we want players to get playing time against higher level as Segunda that is what loans for not resrve team

It's only part of how dangerously Rosell & Barto view the cantera, but yes full retard

These guys know eachother from business school, not football and not FC Barcelona...They are corporate crooks and now Gerson is the next piece of shady business to go down

Its dangerous to think La Masia might do better with less exposure and hype?

There will never be less exporsure and hype with La Masia ,that train has passed long time ago .It is era of youtube and football manager geeks .almost fans of every club hype their own prsopects right now
And honestly if the translation is correct that is a bit worrying .hype isn't what is wrong with La Masia . the word less transparency isn't good too .he didn't say we would do better .he said it is the solution
the guy want a free pass here .he could have actually given much better answer .could talked about finishing 3rd twice in Segunda while having our 2nd longest time there and winning Youth CL and many prospects were signed like D.Suare & Halilovic .that would have been the logical answer .not the clueless one he made

Pretty much this. Those Bartomeu's quotes are really bad.

Bartomeu reportedly won't come to any of the debates planned between the candidates. I wonder why.
