Assist machine. I remember the days when he would foolishly always look for the aerial cross, which is his biggest weakness. Instead now he just collects the long pass and makes the cutback and boom, goals galore from his service.
RM had a lot of "set plays" they would run with Marcelo/Isco or Carvajal overlapping and cutting back or playing it far post if they were under no pressure at the corner of the box. We've gotten to incorporating that much more since Neymar has left with Messi-Alba and cutbacks instead of any far post crosses.
Effective, repeatable attacking plays are the best recipe for sustained offense. Alba-Messi may not be Alves-Messi but goddamn is it effective.

That pass was perfect. Vinicius assisted Benzema in almost the same way in their last game as far as I remember.

I agree, but when he does play he is the only player in the squad with stamina/energy to rival Vidal. Unreal lungs on this man, and doesn't get enough credit for it.
