Change the thread title to Ivan "scapegoat" Rakitic.

I'm seriously getting fucking pissed off with the scapegoating of Rakitic. He's been playing next to a geriatric zombie for the past three seasons that somehow escapes criticism. Meanwhile, Rakitic has been playing far better even while covering most of his work and having to frequently cover the whole right flank because of Messi's nonexistent defending. While the zombie goes away with Spain and shits the bed, Rakitic goes off to Croatia and inspires them towards a historic world cup final as a lynchpin in their dominant midfield but Rakitic is clearly the problem right.

Now let's go look at the last big away game in Europe we played withiut Raki. I'm sure we dominated right because Rakitic is this huge cancer. Oh no wait. That was our 4-0 away loss to PSG which even made our display at Anfield look impressive. The fucking cucks on here are acting like Rakitic is this huge boulder standing between Barca and a better future when the opposite is true. Barca is holding Rakitic back more than the other way around. If Rakitic leaves Barca for Inter, he'll most likely become the dominant midfielder in Serie A once he no longer has to do the work of three players. Meanwhile, Barca will be stuck with Sergio "more important than Messi" Busquets in holding midfield getting overrun at will and most likely suffering another humiliation in Europe.

Stop imagining things and sulking. Busquets should gradually fuck off too. Most agree with this here. All these old, funny smelling people should start seeking retirement homes. Seria A seems like a good place for that.

“For me, Rakitić is one of the most underrated players in the world,” Mourinho said speaking as a pundit for BeIN SPORTS. ”He is a fantastic player at every level. He does defensive work on the right side to compensate for Messi. He runs miles. In ball possession he is fantastic. He is simple, he is effective. He is one of the most underrated players.

”Normally we speak about the big names, but Rakitić, for me he needs to improve his Instagram and his social media, because in this moment this is very important, and he’s not very good on that, but he’s very good on the pitch.”

FCB1987, lots of truth in there.

Used to be him, Suarez, Coutinho, Bob and Pique as the "scapegoat" crew. As if retaking the mantle of Liga, taking 80% of the major Spanish trophies, and a CL in the past 5 years is nothing for the club (more trophies in that period that Madrid, and Atletico has what, 1?).

At least Pique deservedly got out of the doghouse to most this year, Busi is finally getting a little heat (at least a little more consistency in critique of him and removal of his immunity compared to "the scapegoat crew") . But then again some nutty folks think trying squeeze more sweat and blood out of Messi is what we need to do to get over "this epic failures" of seasons--usually because of single bad performances that cost not just Barca, but the same kind that kills the other really really good European clubs seasons that have a chance for CL glory too only for their to be only 1 lucky winner. The Madrid 3 peat really screwed the perception because it gave a false impressive you don't have to be very very good AND LUCKY. Madrid didn't even had the best squad 2 of of the 3 years in their stretch--but they were good enough to give them a chance (and of course dirty here and there, like Ramos pulling Salah's arm out of its socket), and lady luck went their way--and now fans think winning a CL is completely under their control. Meanwhile City has arguably been the best footballing side post Pep's Barca for 24 months and they can't get out of the CL quarters. It is tough, got to be very very good, and a little lucky. If the metric is CL title or bust you are setting yourself up to be disappointed and are going to rake a lot of players who deserve better. too commonplace around here IMO

Just because Busquets is a zombie that doesn't make Rakitic any better. "Scapegoat"? Yeah that's quite fitting, because some people try everything to somehow make him sound less shit.

Let's face it both are a liability at this point.
