Absolutely incredible that this fraud of a player, past it dinosaur and entitled member of "club de amigos" has not been told to pack his bags yet. Let us all pray that some club will be stupid enough to buy him and that he and his wife can be convinced to leave Spain. Him joining Man Utd in an overpriced deal would be ideal for instance. Hopefully Woodward will deliver otherwise we might be stuck with the oil tanker to the great detriment of the future in FDJ and Arthur.

Imagine getting rid of Suárez, Rakitic and Malmierda in the same transfer window for a second? Talk about divine intervention.

Rakitic has the look of a guy who knows his time is coming to an end here.

My guess is that this little family trip involves Disneyland rather than a blessing from above (PSG buying him). One can pray and hope for the latter though. I certainly do.

I dont get players like him. Just fucking move on. Rakitic and suarez should both back their fucking bags and leave. Their time is over, rather leave in a good fashion then being thrown out. He should have left last season and we will have thought of him as a great player. Now everyone hates him, wants him gone and that will be his legacy here.

If everything what is going on at the club right now occurred back in the summer of 2008 (similar situation in many ways expect for that "little" detail of the club not being run by a clueless anti-Cruyff board) and Pep (or a similarly strong-minded manager with clear ideas) was our manager, players like Rakitic, Suárez and probably one of either Busquets or Piqué would have been shown the door like it occurred with Ronaldinho, Deco, Edmilson, Zambrotta etc.

Instead we have an utterly gutless and clueless board with no sporting project in place (for years), a useless (by large) manager with zero authority (not even the power to make his own signings as seen in the past 2 years) and basically a yes-man with a small-team mentality (hence our frequently employed cowardly "tactic" in many top games home and abroad in Europe - CL) all while the seniors (club de amigos) are running the club from within and DECIDING whether said gutless and yes-man manager will stay or not. All it took for Valverde to stay after another unforgivable disaster in Europe, was for the vacas sagradas to publicly state how "great" a manager Valverde is and how much they want him to stay!

Which is hardly shocking as those same seniors would be thrown out of the door by EVERY manager with some authority and power behind him (backing by the board) or with a name.

Imagine such a situation with the likes of Pep, Klopp, Pochettino, Van Gaal or the late Cruyff etc. Would never have occurred.

As usual this club is very good at shooting itself in the foot even when blessed with almost everything and despite being the most successful club in the past 30 years based on trophies, playing style, legacy, players/legends at the club in the same time period etc.

It seems that the club simply has to have periods where it is run down by the likes of Gaspart, Bartomeu or the late tenure of Núñez.:barcaflag:

Ironically a common theme that goes again and again in all of those times of hardship (irrespective of time period and board in place) is successive boards putting the Cruyff sporting model aside (refusing to implement it) and not doing what made this club great, successful and greatly admired.

You forgot one tiny detail:
2006/07: zero trophies
2007/08: zero trophies

2017/18: La liga+Cdr
2018/19: La liga

Name one Barca's coach ever who was fired after winning La liga.
Or after winning 2 La ligas in his 2 years.

The same applies for players.
We made an overhaul with Rijkaard in 2003 after 4 years with: 0 La ligas, 0 Cdrs, 0 CLs.
And an overhaul with Pep in 2008 after 2 seasons with 0 trophies.

Now, try to find a season where Barca sold a few starters who won La liga.

So, it is not the same as in 2008 in terms of firing coach or selling starters.

Probably the worst starting midfielder Barca had in the last 20 years.

Good thing for him that Messi is a beta cuck or him with Valverde would have been out of the club a long time ago.

Only a simpleton would reduce our current challenges (deep-rooted and related to a incompetent board, an incompetent manager and no sporting project in sight) to mere trophies.

The only reason why we won those 2 league titles in a row and a CdR title (I don't give much for that trophy personally) or the Spanish Super Cup is due to Messi and the old spine of the team (that this current board had nothing to do with) and RM (in particular) having some of their worst league performances in ages (decades) and Atlético not being what they were just a few years ago.

I suggest you reread what I wrote. It is crystal clear and Rakitic is part of the problem not the solution.

BBZ is a Rakitic FC fan first and foremost.

Classic BBZ right there. Watching football through Rakitic's lenses.

What I don't get is, why pick such a limited player.

When he came here he seemed like a good bloke, worked hard and didn't complain much.

16/17 season is when started to unravel really. Lucho clearly wasn't pleased with him as he once was and tried to make Gomes a starter instead, and then conveniently rumors of him leaving were starting to make way to the Catalan Press to try and force Lucho into making him a starter again. Iniesta got injured and Rakitic regained his spot and Gomes being crap put an end to it.

His ego has gotten big and add Valverde a coach with Zero authority and personality to lay the law down and you get this current Rakitic. I think what infuriates me the most is he seems full of himself these days and comes off as a total tool in interviews, begging for Contract renewals and trying to downplay Frenkie De Jong as "he doesn't play in the same position as me" nonsense.

We give Roberto shit due to his limited ability but he always seemed like a good enough guy that you never see him come off as a total douchebag and works hard out there.
