It's hard to win away in the CL. Even the great teams only manage 40-50%.

PSG lost away.
Pool lost away.
Juve lost away. (to a team far worse than Napoli)
RM lost at home

We played a shit 1st half in Naples, but once Setien corrected his mistake of not starting Arthur, we had a decent showing and clearly won that half.

Not saying we should have bravado but let's temper our expectations a bit, especially considering we have an injury crisis and 2 of our other main forward sidelined for the season.

Honestly, the result and performance isn’t half as bad as some were making out. Napoli parked the bus big time at home which was strange as fuck imo. So the lack of chances for us is expected. But we did control the game with possession which plays to our strengths with this defence and midfield.

Vinicius really need to improve his finishing if he want to make it at Madrid long-term.

He's easily the better talent than Rodrygo IMO. His pace and dribbling is sensational at his age of 19, but if he keep failing in front of goal other prospects might get in front.

Always nice to see RM lose and Zidane taken to school. Made my night.

Also big L for the CR dickriding team on these forums. Was absolutely atrocious. :tata:

I wouldn't even call it talent. It's a physical gift more than base skill level. And certain traits of character. His ceiling is higher but Rodrygo feels like a more malleable of the two and might improve faster.

That tripping on himself ahead Benz's tame header was pure comedy gold.

You might be right about it being a matter of his makeup because it's been a year since he took Semedo to the cleaners in CDR but his composure in front of goal/finishing is just as atrocious.

It's not that atrocious. It's improved. Only very slightly but it has improved, and not in terms of scoring, but making the right play. He made the 1-0 vs Atletico and he was absolutely instrumental today. Taking him off was Zidane's biggest mistake of any tenure. Or at least it felt like one. A very out of ordinary bad call from a man who made his career on the dodgiest of calls which turned up to be the right ones.

So, after all we did pretty good compared to juve andLiverpool away from home and certainly better than real.. it's a terrible era for most top teams it seems with not so many great players around.

To be fair we were quite fortunate Napoli's defence momentarily and inadvertently lost shape which resulted in an easy tap-in. Other than that we looked really sterile in possession, the forwards we have at the moment aren't helping. I would say lets not be too elated we got an away goal; I can see us struggling again. Juventus and Real are definitely washed up so them losing are not that surprising. As for Liverpool, it's hard to say. They mostly struggle against a defensive side, but may turn it around in the second leg.

PSG shat the bed at home too.

Looks like the best top team was Bayern.
