Over a full day later and this grown ass man still close to tears. Embarrassing when my whole office (American non-football fans) know about the 4-0 drubbing.

Valverde was at fault for last night's pathetic surrender.

Instead of playing a more defensive side at Anfield to stop Liverpool scoring 4 goals, he fielded a team to win a game at Camp Nou. 2 year on the bounce, he's been found out as an average manager in charge of a declining Barcelona squad held together by the brilliance of the greatest player of all time.

It should have been Pique, Lenglet, and either Vermalen or Umtiti in a back 3 with Alba and Semedo as wing backs. Arthur, Busquets and Rakitic in the middle with Messi just behind Suarez up front. The object was to qualify not to win on the night. Hats off to Liverpool who along with Spurs tonight have shown that determination and belief can take you anywhere.

This is the end for the Barcelona team of the last decade. Time to root out the dead wood and start from scratch like Real Madrid are having to do, starting with the sale of Coutinho who isn't good enough for the bench at a club like Barcelona. Either go back for Neymar or go for Dybala/Mbappe.

A long term replacement for Suarez is needed and in truth was needed this season. Imagine a club the size of Barcelona having only 1 recognized quality striker? Aguero would fill that space for 2 or 3 seasons and give time for a long term replacement to be found. But first and foremost, they need to sack Valverde and go with either Pochettino or Conte until Xavi is ready to bring back the good times.

If only there was a way of cloning Messi once every 20 years.

But he did set out a defensive team with those 3 midfielders. He should have started Arthur for either Vidal or rakitic and looked for that one goal that would ease the nerves. With Arthur we would have controlled more and got into a better rhythm. Instead we were losing the ball in midfield too often.

Too many people looking at the scoreboard. Defensively we were not that bad. Liverpool had 13 shots (3 blocked, 7 on target). Yes they got 4 goals but goals are a dice roll equation that comes from attempts and that lack of attention in the 4th goal is silly to analyse.
Liverpools attack was good against good Barcelona defense.

Focus should be on our slow pathetic attack

It's almost impossible for us to look at this result unemotionally, yes, there was bad luck involved, but the lack of fighting spirit and intensity was what hurts us the most.

No will no fight, no confidence, nothing. When you look at klopp and the energy he transmits to his players, it's contagious. That's why even opposition fans and neutrals love him.

With all due respect, Ernie on the other hand is a pussy, so what type of energy/mentality you think he transmits to the players? We were scared shit in Rome and Anfield with Ernie on the sidelines with his hands in his pockets.

Man this is what ive been thinking for like the last 2 seasons. Its our slow attack thats the problem from the start. Ever since Neymar left it was downhill. WE have no proper left wing. No proper striker..Suarez is not who he used to be. In the league he may be fine as you can make up for fuckups and misses over a 38 game period. But in clutch CL games where you need to be clinical...none of our forwards cut it at the elite level besides Messi. We need proper forwards that hold up the ball, able to make passes between the forwards and can acutally dribble for fucks sake. As much as a diver Neymar was, we was able to do these simple things to a certain extent. Look at Saurez and Coutinhos game yesterday and you'll see why we were never going to score. Their shot last night summed up how fucking pathetic our attack is. You might as well pick up the fucking ball and hand it to the keeper. And then they have the audacity to blame the defence for the loss. It was inevitable that Liverpool would get through. Dembele is a working product...so if we rely on him to get us through well...we wont be champions league contenders for a few more seasons. WE NEED to buy some forwards that can do the basics right.

How we made it this far with what we have should be the actual achievement, not that we got knocked out in the Semi's.

stats are def misleading. we had 55% possession.. but those miserable moments where stegen waits for options with the ball at his feet or when he plays give-take with pique,.those moments count as possession. whereas 45% of liverpool are right in the middle of our shit.

The fucking nerve of the club. The official website stating we are chasing a "famous double" 🙄😠

How about a fucking apology for the loss and hiring that coward in the first place?

Or better still announcing they've sacked him.

To be fair...if you think really "REALLY" hard...Ajax fucked up a 3-0 lead as well.

But that doesn't detract from how fucked Barca is ATM adn the oncoming abuse haha.

In terms of comebacks, this has been such a crazy and unpredictable season!

Yesterday's result...
Today's result...
United's 3-1 victory over PSG...
Tottenham's comeback against City...
Ajax's 4-1 victory at the Bernabeu...

And of course Juve's comeback against us :(

people are so "hush hush" about this... this is epic fail. Beyond words. After this I was like, no no no no...

Why does everyone keep going on about this chance?

It was flagged for offside. The ref let it play on and hence didnt blow the whistle. You can literally see him wave play on a few frames later.
The commentators on the stream i was watching even said the flag went up..

So even if he scored wouldn't have counted.
