Agreed there. Our marketing department in general hasn't been ran on par with our global image.

No it wasn't a record, and Barcelona and Real Madrid are in a whole different league compared to teams as Sevilla and Villareal. The shirt manufacturing deal by the way is also a deal that's been too low since it was signed. b

Barça might not have the same pull as Man United in Asia, which is unbelievably huge, but it's is still one of the biggest clubs with the best player and arguably the best team in the world, and I feel you underestimate our pull in the markets you mentioned.
All in all, the shirt was worth a lot more than Barça received three years ago and it is worth much more than that now. To put it into perspective: our deal with Nike was negotiated when we had Messi playing for the club, the best player in the world, who has a contract with Adidas. Imagine how bad Adidas wants to be the shirt manufacturer of Barcelona, so that they sponsor both Messi and the club he plays for. Barcelona's position in the negotiations with Nike is therefore very strong. The club, and therefore the board since its their job, should have capitalized on that when negotiating with Nike, but they didn't, which is evident through the amount of money Nike pays the club annually. I'd say we could have negotiated a deal close to Manchester United's shirt manufacturer, but instead we get much, much less.

What was the record deal at time then as plenty of links say Barcas was when signed in 2010?

Of course Barca and Real are in a different class to the likes of Sevilla and Villarea...you miss the point. The quality of time is not the biggest factor and EPL teams have advantages of bigger audiences watching their games in Asia etc. That has been the basis of the big deals Chelsea and Man Utd got - that Asian support.

The timing of the sponsorship and shirt manufacture has led to Barca dropping to fourth had they been renewed last season Barca would have quite comfortably been in second place.

The Nike deal was signed by the previous board I think. Would need to double check.

Jamdav and is epl is popular argument.Smh

Fc Barcelona along with real Madrid are the two biggest most prestigious name in football. No amount of epl popularity will make up for that, has real Madrid have proven.

It's all about managing your brand correctly.

The EPL is the most popular league and its top teams the most watched world wide.

I agree they are the most presitgious and most players would chose to play for them but the viewing figures throughout the world for Barca and Real Madrid are not that of Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc.

Only this week Man Utd in a study have become the first football club brand to be valued in a study at over 1 billion and they are in their worst position of years.

For all that the shirt deal Barca signed in 2010 was a record deal and the kti manufacture deal was signed with Nike for far too long and not allowed the club to take advantage of rise in this either.

It is about timing and had these deals been up a year ago Barcas revenue would have been second in the world as it was in 2010.

Yea tell that to real Madrid.

The deal may have been a record, but it was signed with full knowledge that the likes of man utd and real deal where about to be up and even then the deal wasn't that much more than what they were getting, so logics dictates that they would have gotten superior deals, this for a club that was putting a brand for the first time on its shirt it 100 yrs.

But yeah, keep making lame excuses, like the 600m debt was correct and it line with football whatever. Only in your brain and rosell does these things make sense.

It that very study, Barcelona was the only team with an AAA+ rating, but where sixth, behind man city, why?. They cauae have failed to manage our imagine correctly.

Every club will sign sponsorship deals knowing they could be overtaken in the following years but fact remains they signed a record deal at the time.

The close to 600m debt is how football debt is generally discussed at every other club. Never once said rosell was right to go after Laporta for that in fact I said exact opposite that the debt situation was not as bad as he made out and was in most part needed to grow club at that time.

Again Barca being sixth in that kind of study is down to a large part in viewing figures abroad etc. That and sponsor/shirt deals that timing doesnt favour Barca.

If Man City are a bigger brand but Barca make more money than them through revenue that is a bigger failure for Man City not Barca.

Clearly its not how debt is discuss at every other club, has evidenced above.

Not even uefa uses those standards.

What study are you referring to that Barcelona came sixth?

It is how debt is generally discussed, it has been at all the top clubs almost all of the time debt has been discussed as liabilities owed by the club.

Hence the Glaziers putting Man Utd into almost a billion of debt etc. Arsenal going in to debt to build new stadium. Real clearing debt through sale of traning ground.

All those described debt the same way in moeny owed by the clubs.

Football debt generally gets discussed as money owed.

Bartomeu said Barca tops the revenue list and surpassed Real Madrid under his tenture, but we've actually fallen two places.

http://www2.deloitte.com/content/da...group/deloitte-football-money-league-2015.PDF

Well he is clearly speaking crap there if he said that.

Barca will easily be back in top two once new sponsorship deal and Nike deal expires. This is about worst timing for those two to be nearing an end when money paid out to other clubs for it have began to rocket.

Interested to see how Laporta repsonds to question about Qatar deal. I think I know how he will.

We should get a new sponsor, open membership/make it easier for foreign fans to become a member(which obviously won't be happening under this board) and a new, upgraded deal with Nike. Those are three simple ways to increase the annual revenue, and I'm sure there are a lot more. A good image like we had under Laporta will also help to increase it. Plus, having fewer legal problems and lawsuits is a must to save money.
