6 - Carles Alena

You don't understand it kid
He had no problem giving the number to De Jong
He just don't like the fact the board agreed with De Jong about giving him the 21 number and didn't tell even him - that number's owner
It's not about the number but about showing respect

But some fans will think he was wrong by not voluntarily gave his number to their favorite player
Boohoo immature fans

Yeah I read the full quote, and I still see it unnecessary to take this issue public. Poor media training. Regardless of the club being inept or not.

It is not as if it was a prominent number that he had for ages and developed a brand attachment to have a little sulk about, like Raul, the 7, and Beckham back in the day.

He only had that number for half a season as it was one of two available when officially joining the first team squad (21 and 25. The 6 of Suarez and Munir were not released yet).

Again rather than moan, why not see the opportunity in all this and speak properly with Todibo and management to try and get Xavi's 6 and work your ass off to be an integral part of the squad.

Kid? Wouldn't it be lovely to be a kid again.

The board should have told him ahead of time. Alena should also realize he has not proven himself good enough for first team given the amount of time and chances given to him.

La Masia home boy dream bubble bursted again

Such a limited, one-footed player.

All the lad is capable of doing is cutting in and passing to his left. So predictable when he can't do anything to his right.

Hope his minutes get binned in favor of Puig. Let's try him at LB. Too bad he can't defend either. Really, he is just mediocre.

Reality is he has always been this bad.

People were just hiding behind his age and the fact he hadn't got much of a look in the first team at this time to hype him and his "potential."

Same story as most of these La Masia lads our fanbase builds up. Vast majority of them are nowhere near good enough for the senior squad despite fans constantly ripping the coach for not playing them and seeing their "talent."

Only a matter of time before they get exposed just like this fraud. When a legitimate prospect comes around he will show his quality in the minutes he plays.

So what is a measure of players development for you than? Do you even consider the possibility they are not called up because they are not good enough??? Majority of our best midfielders (except Busquets) that grew up in La Masia were important part of U21 team at some period of their career. Xavi, Iniesta, Thiago and even Sergi Roberto have all played their part for U17, U19 and U21 team while Puig has never played for any of those. You may not agree but this is a concerning fact for sure.

U-21 means that a certain coach doesn't rate him at a particular moment of time. That what it means.
Players shouldn't be judged by a coach selection, may be if many coaches ignores him we can take something from it. But Alena featured in all other age groups
And just for the record, Alena is eligible to play next U-21 competition in 2021, and only 2 players from Spain's squad were younger than him.
If you don't like what you are seeing with him it is understandable, but don't base it on this bs criteria.
