Put him in any other formation or pair him with any other players and he is a half of a player compared to 433.

About Frenkie, for now all we know that Ten Hag didn't want to play him in attack, because he sucks.
And he thrived in a 4231 as a double pivot, where at least one guy (Schone or De Roon) were covering for him.

So, regarding 433:
1. He will suck as a CM
2. Regarding a lone pivot role, hard to tell. Iirc, he didn't play in that lone role too much at Ajax and Netherlands
3. Further, who will cover for his back? Arthur who is dead after 50 minutes and who is far from a defensive beast?

Barca has a specific system which not too many clubs in the world play.
And then we are buying players from other teams who play differently (Dembele, Cou, Griezz, Frenkie, Arthur) and we try to fit them into our system.

And then we are surprised when these players struggle.

Which tactics?, because it really looks we have no clue what we are doing.

I saw Frenkie doing runs at least 3 times in the first half and he was the most forward player.
We have no striker at this point in time and we have a so called 'GOAT' who doesn't understand the concept of attacking. Drops deep to his own half to distribute to who?
Vidal is a great warrior but he is not the type of player to put up front, the guy will walk his legs off to help but I have no idea wat Setien wants him to do.

We need to fix a lot of things, before we start calling players like Frenkie deadweight or flop.
You can't buy a player who is a LCDM in 4-2-1-3 set-up and just drop him anywhere on the pitch.
