You dont understand that we only judge the LAST season. Messi is the best in history but last season he lost CL, Copa Del Rey and Copa America. Van Dijk was a wall in the defence and he deserves the Ballon Dor for his performances last season. But you dont want Van Dijk to win as he didnt scored hattricks in CL as a defender lol.

Messi was for above any other player in both La Liga and the CL last season

Messi was the best player last season. Period. He carried Barca to UCL semis, Copa final and won the team the league title. You must be delusional if you dont see that.

VVD lost the EPL, Nations League, the carabo cup and the fa cup. apply this to your logic please.
and please, stop pretending to be a Barca fan.

Irrelevant. You are in a Barcelona fans forum and thus it is reasonable as fans to want to have Messi win the Ballon this year in order to be officially named the world’s greatest. The other stuff, right or wrong, is rationalization

i think if vvd and liverpool won the epl, considered as big of a prize as the cl, vvd probably would have earned it. but in the end both got one major trophy, and messi was clearly why barca was right in the mix for three trophies while with liverpool they got 4 guys you can make a vase for. even vvd all but chissled in the trophy himself messi was the best player last year.
