He can play anywhere in that midfield because thats what quality players can do. How long he stays a quality player under this clown shoe of a manager is another story.

Remember watching him at CB against Feyenoord earlier this year and it was not a pleasant sight. Was to blame for at least 2-3 goals out of the 6 Ajax conceded in that trashing. Definitely not a position where we would ever want to rely on him.

He didn't play at CB in that game

He didn't play CB that game, but De Ligt was to blame for a couple goals. Van Persie was on fire that day.

Most of the times Feyenoord gets outplayed by Ajax. But in this game in Rotterdam, Feyenoord played with so much passion. Like it was a CL final or something.
You can compare it a bit with the Real - Atletico game a few days back

Can't blame Frenkie or De Ligt for this. It was a collective failure.

Frenkie didn't played a bad game as a CB. But he did take a lot of risks. Dribbling past opponents as a CB isn't very common these days. But Frenkie didn't care.

If Ter Stegen gets a red card. And we can't substitute a player. Just let Frenkie play as a goalie. And he'll save your day. The dude is that good. :messi:

he deserves to be top 3 alongside messi and vvd. with messi winning it ofc.

biggest joke is seeing ronaldo and kane on there instead of alisson and b.silva.

Lol where is Bernardo Silva he was incredible this year. Van Dijk shoud win as he was by far the best defender in the world and was the main reason why Liverpool won the CL. I would go for Messi if he would have won the Copa America, Argentinia was really strong this time but he was one of the worst player and couldnt make the difference against Brazil. By the way nobody was able to dribble against Van Dijk.

1.Van Dijk

2.Messi

3.Frenkie De Jong

This is the logical ranking if the award is fair.

I disagree with this statement. There were a lot of new players in their first international tournament, had not much chemistry and a rookie manager so I wouldn't say they were really strong. Before the tournament started, Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia looked stronger as a collective unit; Arg. were semifinalist at best. However, the Arg team got a lot better as they found a formation that suited most of the players and consequentially so did Messi (he did play poorly in the first few games by his standard) and he was Arg.'s best player vs Brazil.

I think Messi should win the Ballon D'or but I wouldn't be surprised if Van Dijk wins it as he also had a wonderful season.

I respect your opinion but you cant deny that Argentinia was even better than Brazil, they played their best football since 5-6 years. Messi should have make the difference here but he didnt so ImO Van Dijk should win the Ballon Dor this time.

Oh I agree that Argentina were better than Brazil, probably their best game since the Copa 15 vs Paraguay in the semis. If Messi was a little bit luckier (him hitting the post, how Casemiro didn't even get a yellow card, gave the pass to Aguero's header that also hit the post, and the 2 penalties that should have been given imo) maybe Arg. could have been in the final. I just disagreed with your statement that Argentina were really strong in this tournament. Better than the squad in the WC 18 but weaker than the ones of 14-16.

how did messi not make the difference? he was the best player on the pitch vs brazil. and the best player this season by far. yes, even over vvd. I always see you trying to downplay Messi and what he did this season.
