Because countries and clubs can be too slow to replace legendary players at times.
The very fact Real players have not always made squads shows you are wrong about claiming all Real players get called up or press go mad.
So why in 2015 De Gea was a better GK than Casillas and still Casillas started for Spain?
Because Casillas captained them to a World Cup and 2 Euros, and was a hugely respected figure with a lot of clout in the NT.
Similar to why Suarez will stay and keep starting at our club next season
