10 - Lionel Messi - v5

Hoepfully Leo can lead Barca to the CL final in 2019 at the Wanda in Madrid, after 2014 world cup he was rejuvenated, so hopefully same again next season after the world cup.

Would've been nice with a semi-final if Messi had pulled something out of his ass in the game, but don't kid yourselves and think we wouldn't have been completely ridiculed by Liverpool which possibly would have been even harder to stomach.

Messi would've scored at Anfield, Lovern was all over the place yesterday, that's why they got 2 goals back

Next season we have to manage him like Zidane manages CR. Always rest him before any CL knockout games. He lacked the intensity he showed in Roma that he had showed against Chelsea at home and Sevilla Copa Final when he was properly rested for a week. Suarez should also be rested as well as he relies a lot on intensity.

Messi used to be what Salah was last night (a destroyer) but he is not like that anymore and hasn't been for a while. Messi just isn't as good as he used to be and Roma took advantage of that. 2008-2013 Messi and probably 15 would have destroyed that Roma team like Salah did last night but he has dropped a few levels down and it shows. Scoring hat tricks against Leganes isn't enough, you have to show up on the biggest stage of them all which is the CL. Messi is a flat track bully now. CR7 knows the CL is the most important and that is why he puts all his effort in that. He could beat Messi to the Pichichi if he really wanted to but he is being smart and conserving energy for the CL unlike Messi who wants to play every game.

CR7 is a tap in king and can't even go past 1 player to save his life anymore. he just stays around the box to score, lots of players in the past have done that before like Van Nisterlooy, Inzaghi etc, he's just like them now, nothing special.

tap in king? You don't know much about football if you think that. Ronaldo is always in the right place at the right time because he is brilliant at reading the game and his movement is second to none even at 33 years of age, this is why defenders cannot keep tabs on him. He has attacking instincts unlike any other and his positioning is also second to none. He can score with left foot, right foot, head you name it. The ultimate and most complete attacking player ever. He is the biggest nightmare for defenders because he has no weaknesses.

I still believe that Messi's peak right now is as good as 14/15 Messi. Only difference is that he can't do it as consistently as he did in 14/15 because he has more mileage in his legs and needs to be rotated more like CR is doing. So yes, I agree with you that Messi's priority should be to manage more his time intelligently, but I don't think that his level has dropped down that dramatically. Also we have to consider the fact that Real Madrid have a better squad than Barca so that they can rotate more without losing much efficiency (I think their early collapse in the first part of La Liga is due to complacency more than the quality of the squad). Also Ronaldo's main priority is to score goals while Messi's role is more of a goalscoring playmaker rather than a forward so you won't get a brace every game like Ronaldo is recently doing right now.

His weakness is his dribbling, he can't dribble past even 1 player now. That's why he won't score tonight against Bayern, i'll bump this for you when that happens

Are you listening yourself? Gtfo with that ronaldo bullshiet, his play nowdays is couple of stepovers which leads nowhere, shooting within 25 meters from goal from everywhere, even when his teammates are in better position. His build up play contains pass to the wing so he can gather time to run in front of the goal to score tap in. You're underestimating quality of the squad real has. Ronaldo is a goal machine, for sure. Does that make him the best? F. No. One beautiful goal does not change that thing. Best attacking player ever? One of the best GOALSCORERS for sure. And besides, messi hasnt slowed down. He changed his style of play, in my opinion hes more complete than ever. But you ronaldo fan boys only look goals(number, not how they have been scored) and that clearly shows your understanding of the football game. Do you people even watch football? Isco is a joy to watch, marcelo, kroos modric also, damn even vasquez is a exciting player. Ronaldo? No, quite sure he ruins some of the beautiful play other make. And yeah, hes got the greatest pr ever, ill give you that

He doesn’t need to dribble players, he has Marcelo and Carvajal to put in crosses for him and guys like isco to dribble and ruin the oppositions shape.

Also his build up is underrated, it’s quite good. He isn’t as bad as Suarez for example. He may not be a creator but that’s because it’s not his job, he gets the ball and moves it on quickly and efficiently.

He is far superior to them

They were a lot closer in 2016 but since then Ronaldo has accelerated away. I believe Messi was first to break Raul's record too. That should tell you how much Ronaldo has been dominating Messi in the CL.

Yeah since Ronaldo has resorted to goal hanging for 90 minutes with world class players teeing him up all game and Messi has had to drop deep to create everything. Ronaldo misses many good chances a game too. Even in the Juve tie he still managed to miss a few sitters.

When Messi did a bit of that (2012) he scored 90 goals in a year. If Messi played like a penalty box predator in an attacking, creative team he'd score shitloads too.

Since Suarez arrival Messi dropped to a creator role. He also lost some physical abilities that he had when he was younger so that makes sense. He still gets a massive amount of goals anyway though which shows he is the best in the world. No other player is so dominant at scoring AND creating than Messi.
