Sergio Busquets

Busi was very good this game imo.

he got better than what we used to see, but still not good enough. Never will be that is exactly why players retire. No matter how good you are, at some point, you will not be good enough and you have to leave.

Being a starter for 11 seasons is unusual in football. Busquets was excellent since he was 20 and played on the highest level possible for 10 seasons, which is impressive.

He has got to leave. We need to move on.

With the ball in the right set up, he can show he's the old Busi.

But without the ball, it's amazing how bad he decayed in that area. Never was the quickest or mobile nor physical kind of guy but made up for it in reading in the game. But these days his non-existing mobility is killing him badly.

How about switching Busquets and FDJ? Let FDJ be the holding defensive midfielder and let Busquets be the creative attacking player, at least for 60 minutes of each game?

Busquets attacking midfielder? I hope you're kidding. Busquets's total lack of pace would come into play even more if he played further up front, and he also has far less creativity than FDJ.

Busquets lack of pace has more negative consequences when he is playing as defensive midfielder. His strength is vision, ball control and one-touch accurate passing. He has the ability to create opportunities for our forwards via through passes. However, he needs to work on his shooting from distance. I think he could, based on his long legs and his touch. I have seen him frequently in position to shoot but he hesitates - has no confidence, thinks he has to pass the ball to a forward.

Vidal is the only midfielder who offers something different than "pass pass pass, hold hold hold, pass pass pass", so he appears a good option, especially when he comes on as a late energetic sub, but he's also not good enough at this point of his career and if he played 15 games in a row as a starter, people would pick on him as well for his plethora of deficiencies, like not being able to hold on to the ball against better teams like Madrid's midfield.

Team needs an attacking midfielder who can play the final pass, 2 fullbacks, a winger and a striker. Good luck finding all that.

Incredible foresight.
