Scholes Vs Xavi (Not a direct comparison thread)

I've always rated Giggs higher than Scholes.

I think Scholes is ridiculously over rated. He was good but not THAT good.

thats bullshit, scholes in his prime was far more important to united then giggs, any united fan would tell you that................

I find the same contraddiction when I talk with stupid anti-juventini.

1st) Regarding the argument Platini/Maradona,
I state that Platini was same or better than Maradona, and there's not doubt about that...... but people say: "Maradona won World Cup, and did it by himself"
(That's true...but people forget that Platini won the Euro, and did it by himself too, and led France to 2 semis in World Cup)

2nd) On the other hand: "Juve used to steal, because they didn't win a lot in Europe"
First it's faulse also this, because in the 30 years before Faulsepoli (in 2006) Juve were the side with biggest number of european Finals (11) and Cups (6).
But, above all, Juve are the side historically with bigger impact in World Cup history: 1982, 1998, and 2006 were marked by Juventus players ...... similarly to 2010 for Barça players.

So that, people in an argument give much importance to World Cup results, in the other argument they seem to forget it.
I dont' like that very much......there should be more intellectual honesty, even if you're a supporter

BTW
Scholes, Xavi and Pirlo are the 3 greatest midfielders after Zidane
3 great champions that new generations of players seem not to be more able to sort out

Scholes is fantastic as well as Giggs......the 2 key players for Ferguson's era.
Two different roles, you cannot compare them

agree 100%.

as good as he is when he's 'on', giggs just doesn't have the metronomic level of performance as scholes has had over his career.

he's also entirely different in so much as scholes is all thought opposed to giggs' instinct. the bad/unfortunate thing about instinct players is that when they're 'off' they really are OFF, and giggs has suffered for long LONG spells of that, usually ended when his contract was due for renewal funnily enough.

he did ok with Napoli too you know. plus, unlike platini, for club AND country, he wasn't surrounded/helped by some of the best players of his generation either. a few, but nowhere near as many as platini played with.

Maradona >>> Platini FACT.
yes. i agree, though it's a bit of a no-brainer, to me at least, despite the evidence ejuventus put forward.

That's not a no-brainer at all. Back in the 80s people were arguing about "Zico vs. Platini vs. Maradona" just like people do right now with "Messi vs. Ronaldo". Do you want to know what ended the whole discussion and elevated Maradona a level above so now it is only about "Pelé vs. Maradona"? The World Cup. That's all. 86 changed it all. Like it or not. The WC defines the legacy of a player. People think Zidane is the greatest midfielder of all time. At least the best French midfielder of all time. When in reality he doesn't hold a candle to Platini.

Based on what are you saying that Zidane cannot hold a candle to Platini? Is the former a lesser player then the latter? To be honest I do not have an opinion about Platini, never watched him play and haven't really seen many footage of him but knowing Zidane, I highly doubt that Platini is as good or that much better.

Well, how am I going to describe Platini to you if you haven't watched him? He was every bit as good a playmaker as Zidane, if not better, far more consistent, a free kick specialist, he had goals in his game (3 consecutive times top scorer of Serie A of the 80s as an enganche, up until today there is only one player who became top scorer of the Serie A more often than him: Nordahl, back in the 50s - he has 41 goals in 72 games for France). His performance in the 1984 Eurocup remains one of the best individual performances a player has ever demonstrated on the international stage when he won France their first ever international trophy, scoring 9 goals in 5 games. First player to win the European Player Of The Year Award 3 consecutive times since Cruyff. Led Juventus to their first ever "Champions League" (former European Cup) title against the great Liverpool side of the 80s. Despite not being fit, Platini also led France to a third place in the 1986 World Cup. For everything else, you just have to watch him.

Yes, he was much better than Zidane.

raed doesn't know shit. like i said, he once said zidane is handsome. there is no way you are going to convince him that zidane wasn't all that with that kind of fanboyism

I rate Zidane the "essence" of football .... the preferred player to watch in absolute.
He was also winning....so that, I rate him at the top ever.

But Platini...... wow!
Yes, Platini was better than Zidane !
Believe me.
Platini was not a great player, but an unbelievible one.
None youtube video can make justice of his game......... he was a player for team, despite deserving lots of individuals achievements.

Not a case I said he was better than Maradona.
What "barcelonista" reported about him it's sufficient to realize something......... can you believe?
The best playmaker ever (now we have Pirlo and Xavi) but ..... the top scorer !!
3 times in 80's SErie A, in european Cups as well, with France.
Absolute leadership on the pitch. Great passings, master of free kicks.
I'm forgetting something for sure....and all that.... having an absolute normal physic: he was PURE CLASS.
Maradona was short and with strong legs, at least !

If it wasn't for WC 1986, nobody could compaire Maradona to Platini
