All newspapers are biased in their own way.

Marca are obviously biased towards real and the catalan press towards Barca.

Its only Gio who think Marca is gospel. Marca is a load of shit - like most newspapers.

according to As, Manchester city offered 35 million euros for Maicon inter expects real to match the offer. They're also talking about a Lampard - Kaka swap.

35 means City takes it.. read the Lamps-Kaka but the original article is from the Sun so ..
I think selling kaka and getting a much younger player like Gourcuff is way way better

if city really offer those 35m € that inter request, it's down to maicon. unless he insists in moving to madrid, city will make the race for maicon and real will looks towards azpilicueta.

that rumor came from the english press...enough said  they claim kaká for lampard + a. cole and they also claim, that mourinho insists in fábregas. claiming further that he's aiming to snatch him under the nose of barca in order to harm barca, who are said to be very close to a 60m € deal for him.

Back in the days when teams didn't have a flood of foreign players Joao , most teams were formed with local players , same strength + 3 non locals

Yep... and after that... we must think also in those days before the Bosman Law... 2 foreigh players and all trhe rest... national players... (Juve was an example...)

Exactly.. everyone was capable of competing in Europe before Bosman.. strength were almost the same and champions of Romania,Yugoslavia , Russia managed to compete with the big leagues.. since Bosman and the open up of registration only the big teams had enough squad to compete on both fronts.. in the last 10 years small teams couldn't compete in two fronts.. they either show up a crap form in the league (see Betis ,Udinese for example ) or drop European lesser competition (which generate less money see Lazio ) for a league position .. European spots for small sides has turned to a curse .

Serie A team never bothered with Europe in recent years due to their inability to maintain competitive edge another example is @ Fiorentina this season last 16 in the CL , 11th spot in the league .. did well in the CL but crashed in the league

unless UEFA insist of the 5+6 rule it will be the same story every year..
this year Sampdoria will be the same

by the way tonight Real Madrid classic team play AC Milan classic teams.. some great names like Zizou,Figo & Maldini will be playing for those interested

italian press claims that galliani will meet with pérez in order to negotiate deals for drenthe & gago.

makes sense, since milan have first refusal on reals players since the kaká deal.

That will be an interesting game...

I agree with you, Beast... for me the major example of the Bosman Law is Ajax... former glory of Europe (won everything in Europe) and now... another: Anderlecht. Winner of Cup of Cup in '75 and '76, UEFA in '83, several times in finals and now...

Another example, and this is a situation almost pathetic... in summer 2009, in Ajax Cup, Benfica (i think it was against Ajax, I'm not sure...) not aligned with one Portuguese player (eleven foreign players)... only with the substitutions, which is entered Portuguese players ... words for what?

Again, i find myself in agreement with Beast. Bosman is a total wanker!

Good news. I think Maicon would rather go Real but if it turns into a bidding war, it would be great to see Real have to pay top dollar for him

Anderlecht is a terrible example as they only won it by bribing their way through the cup.

as far as foreign players go...how about inter milan in the CL final may 2010? not 1 italian player in the starting XI, only italian on the field was materazzi, coming on the 92nd minute.

or do i miss your points?

BTW I wasn't being sarcastic I meant it. We faced them in the 76 uefa cup final and 78 european cup final - so to reach 2 european finals in 3 years was a good achievement.
