Yes, too bad it's a team sport where the quality of the team you play in makes an enormous difference.

Yes and his quality was huge for City and yes it is a 'team sport' also yet you will claim Real have 'best defence' in world when it is their team mates up top and in goals bailing out one of worst defences to win the CL.

When Real win CL... every aspect of team is 'elite and top class' when City win it... Gundo was lucky to be playing with top class players.

Usual mental gymnastics from Serghie.

No mental gymnastics. Simple logic, which is why you have to divert and deflect and bring other discussions into the agument.

The fuck Madrid have to do with current Barcelona? They reached 11 CL semifinals in the last 13 years. That's fucking brutal.

No it is awful logic that leads to so many of your awful shouts on Barca midfielders in recent years and how impossible it was for Barca to compete last season etc.

No diverting. It is all relevant.

100% had Gundo signed for Real you gush over the quality of a CL winner added to their squad.

Yes, too bad football is a team sport where the quality of the team you play in makes an enormous difference. Especially when you're old and your legs aren't what they used to be.

Gundo is a good player, but let's not get carried away. He was helped tremendously by the quality of that City side. At Barcelona, a much inferior side, we'll see how individually great he is.
He was great at Dortmund as well so argument doesn't wash.

Gundo played in a team stacked with world class players left and right. Best fullbacks, best CBs, best manager, best no9, best midfielder in the world, some of the best wingers in the world.

Do better.

What Gundogan did at City in an environment that is 10 times better than what we have at Barca is almost irrelevant. It's like driving a Ferrari vs driving a Ford Escort and expecting the same results.
Like the Madrid defense that gets carried by the rest of the team every year yet you rate them due to the entire team's accomplishments? Now you want to focus on individuals when you can downplay a Barca player's abilities.

Lol, he was in his prime back then. The current version of Gundogan is a slow player that needs a very dominating team on the ball to make an impact. Let's see what he does. La Liga is a slow league, so it fits an older player without much pace left like Gundo pretty well.

Aye but Kroos and Modric are elite because they won CL two seasons back....

Mental gymnastics.

Just usual trying to make out Barca squad worse than is.

Because they won CL as key players for Madrid.

Let's take Modric and his assist for Rodrygo vs Chelsea. That's an ourageous pass , and without his match-winning contributions, Madrid wouldn't have been able to win CL. The perfect cross for Benzema's 2-0 header in the first leg also, the 3-1 win on Stamford Bridge.

Haha no... Gundo was more key for City last season than those two were for Real in CL win.

Do better.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Madrid in 2022 won the CL based on the individual level of players like Benzema, Courtois, Vinicius, Modric, Rodrygo and some others, later Carvajal, Valverde etc. Comparing that to the well drilled City side that can replace anyone with little difference... shows how little you know about the game.

Gundo won the CL as 'key player' for a Man City side.

What did Kroos do to be called 'elite' when they won it? If an assist is enough?

Between Kroos and Modric.. three assists in CL KOs that season and dominated in middle of park near enough every game.

Without Gundo.. City dont win CL.

The fact that Madrid got dominated in middle of the park doesn't mean much. They played counter attack that season and beat anyone in CL.

Gundogan is a top player also, but he has moved to a different team and remains to be seen how he adapts. If he can bring that sort of influence as Modric did for Madrid until recently, especially in the Champions League, with key passes in big games, that's great for both Gundogan and Barcelona.

Time will tell.
