Official Board Agree To CVC Deal

Selling De Jong doesn't fix the problem by any stretch of the imagination.

If we want to clear the deficit now we have to enter nearly 800 million euros to just get our head above water. And that's just to get our head above water.

The root cause of the problem is ridiculous wages vs profit , which if we continue to perform poorly in UCL and league, won't change permanently until all the veterans and leeches leave. Will these signings we are planning to make, which have the club's fiscal future resting on their success, propel us to much more than what we are already doing?? Probably no..

I think a few years of not competing in CL, and using our youth, whilst we wait for the wage bill to lighten is preferable than just thinking short term and making future problems worse.

I agree. But selling De Jong gets you more money in the 1/4 rule. You can spend 25% of what you bring in. So if we sell him for 100m let's say, we can invest 25m in the squad in terms of wages. Plus other money from other deals, Coutinho 20m sale, maybe other sales if we can do it.

The thing is that if you spend another 2-3 years fighting with Tebas the moron, unable to invest much, then De Jong will be 28 by then. It's a better bet now to just sell him for big money if you can't challenge hard for the next few years. Also for him, as much as he likes Barca.

But I agree that the only way is to go with what we have, with minimum investments for a few years. Top 4 and dong better in CL like getting out of the groups and maybe with a bit of luck going in the quarters or something that can be achieved. Plus doing better in Copa del Rey.

We need to sign both CVC and Goldman Sachs deal

As well as Barca studios

No one wants to come to a club that can't challenge for titles

None of this shit matters when we get 1 billion for super league

No wonder you support Barto. He was a master in doing X in the hope of Y happening in the future .

Tebas is the Bartomeu of La Liga. No surprises here. These guys are rats who basically care for very very few things except how to save their own skin.

"Mateu Alemany has done a great job. We have a wage bill of 560 million euros, compared to Bayern it is double, they have 300 million and Madrid 400".

 I mean, what the actual fuck?

That wage bill with 0 superstars is laughable.

We are learning what it means to actually tie the club to 5+ years of insane contracts. What kind of moron do you have to be to give these contracts considering that since 2016 the team has not been a top 5 in Europe?

How the hell can you have a wage bill that is 160m more than the club that won 5 CLs in the last 8 years?

This wage bill is after Griezmann, Suarez, Coutinho, Messi leaving. Presumably it includes what is owed to players like Pique also.

Absolute leech-work.

Most likely. Bartomeu got these players to sign delays in payments that's all. Basically, his last work as a president was to kick the debt in wages 2-3 years down the line and torpedo these next few years.

So even if we did cut wages, we have debts from previous years that we still have to pay. What was it to Pique, rumored? 50m? Some players probably have some tens of millions to be paid just in delayed wages as well, probably most of the very high earners have serious serious money to be paid. On top of what they earn normally, which is still a lot probably.

There's no other explanation. Wouldn't be surprised if we owe even Messi some tens of millions .

Yawn something Laporta would have known for years

All speculation

They don't have Madrid or Bayern's wage bill

I wonder if we still owe something to Messi or even Suarez.

 I even edited that bit in. I'm almost sure we do. There's no way the wage bill is 560m unless there's some immense back payments that still have to be paid. Meaning all the so-called salary cuts were actually delays that will continue to burden us greatly.

Which makes sense. Nobody signs to just strip off some 20-30m they need to collect.

Absolute leeches these players. Did Casillas pull something like that for Madrid?

I can imagine Bartomeu's policy being to not negotiate wages with new players.

Something along these lines: We are Barcelona, the biggest club in the world, we pay premium salaries. We don't negotiate, just offer an above market salary and then the player and agent are very happy. Saves time and hassle, and we get high performing and happy individuals in return.
