Lionel Messi - v7

Was robbed 3-4 years of his legacy, by a board that was always looking back, trying to paper the cracks after loosing key team elemnets around messi, never looking at what messi's game evolved into, or how teams started countering our play, just panic buys and no vision...he is done here, sadly and i think the last great thing he can do is get us a big fat transfer fee. Sad as fuck...

thats really sad, as the GOAT Messi deserved a better ending but as Valverde would say 'It is what it is'.

People still continue with this shit, it's unbelievable.

Messi won 3CLs as a main player. 2 with the greatest side ever, and 1 with the greatest attack ever assembled. He carried fuck all.

Yes, he was the best player in those teams, but those sides were filled with amazing players in every position almost. Without all those incredible players around him, Messi proved he can't do shit at the highest level.

Amazing players in every position my ass.
Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alves, Eto'o were in the amazing/legendary bracket. Puyol and Mascherano for their leadership. Then came Suarez and Neymar.

None of them provided stellar performances as Messi did almost week in week out. They were in and out, Messi was a freak based on his consistency.

I really don't understand why some of you like to talk trash and throw shit at what he did for us. Yes he carried us, as in he was the cherry on top and the difference maker between us being a good side or a legendary one.

Messi was the best but could say take out Xavi and Barca are not a legendary side.

Could argue Xavi 'carried' Barcas as well as he was the dominant man in the best midfield ever that set tone for everything Barca did and he did same for Spain under different coaches.

It is not talking trash about Messi to argue against this idea he came along and suddenly Barca dominated. It was a whole lot of different factors and he was Barcas star man but not massively ahead of likes of Xavi for importance in that Barca side.

Barca will be just fine in the long run.

Barca after Messi will return to being the club it was before Messi. A club that is usually poorly run, overly political, sometimes succesfull because they have some money, some luck or some talents coming through but most of the time unstable.

A sustained period of succes like Barca had from 2004-19 will never happen again.

Has the club not been a lot of those things already and since Xavi/Iniesta left?

Try as hard as you like to make it all about Messi but it isnt and the club could well end up with 2 league titles and O CLs with Messi in last 5 seasons. Yet you try to stretch that to the period of dominance as he is still playing when it hasnt been.

I won’t bother to repudiate the other stuff you said but on the last sentence, never say never. We will carry on, in good and bad days while you can follow Messi and chase glory and more feel-good and bragging rights of that GOAT hubris.

Wonderfull, finally all the gloryhunters and fake supporters will vanish. Maybe now the proper football supporters will be able to have real discussions. I would not mind a handfull of years in the second division to really clean out the house of all the whining childish fake football fans :barcascarf:

Fuck, I don’t recall seeing Ronaldo fans expressing ill wishes and schadenfreude toward Real Madrid when he was sold. Messi fans are something indeed.

Gonna be funny when summer rolls around and the only serious contract offers for Messi, if he keeps up this disastrous production, are that from Barca and MLS. Maybe Inter will get in there somewhere.

'Barca will never see a time like the last five years ever again'.

The heady heights of two league titles and zero CLs is unique to Barcas history and will be gone with Messi'

Cant make it up.
