Lionel Messi - v7

Or he gave his whole soul to the club and when he is finally done with it the club turns on him and holds him against his will.

Messi at this point is like the end of the horse boxer in animal farm.

Well, he is the one who initiated all of this. He gave his all for a fortune of money. It's not like he is some kind of volunteer. The worst thing is that the club takes a massive hit on its reputation if he leaves like this.

This is all on barto and his terrible managing of the club.

It's pretty reasonable and clear what's going on for me. Neither side have made themselves look particularly good here, but this could have been avoided had Bartomeu agreed to sit down and negotiate with them.
Bartomeu had to do this. If Messi leaves now it would be because he absolutely wanted and insisted on leaving the club, he needs to force a move now. If Barto quickly agreed and started negotiations he would have been the one who SOLD Messi. What Barto did also drives the price up and makes Messi look bad and unprofessional in the process. Barto did the right thing for himself there.

This feels like the end of FC Barcelona, dawg.

We're not even going to be a top 10 side in Europe next season...maybe not even top 15.

This is DEVASTATING, dawg.

You're right. At least in the eyes of those who blindly believe everything MD and Sport write, like some posters here.

As I've said from day one, Barto is a politician, but I think he loses this no matter what happens. It'll take one statement from Messi and all his political plays and ploys goes up in smoke.

You still don't understand that Messi is using the contract to join City for free because Bartomeu refused to negotiate. Messi said from the beginning that he wanted Barca to get a decent fee for his sale.

No, I do understand

we have no evidence that City and Messi plan to negotiate in a way that benefits Barca, its rumours just like:

🚨 This decision was taken with his lawyers who maintain that Messi will leave the club for free. @gerardromero #FCB 🇦🇷❌👥

Messi wants to negotiate the end of his contract without a court case, I doubt he cares about us being compensated if hes willing to go on strike

Don't worry, dawg.

Once Dembouz dons the #10 shirt, the decade of dominance will commence.

Mostly but it's also on Messi. It's not like the elections take place in four years from now on. And it's also not that City has had the best CL campaign in the last years. I would say their weak link has been their defence and I don't think this will change for the better with Messi. So I don't really see the point.

I will disprove all opposition arguments with one sentence.

Xavi wanted to leave after a trophyless season, all hope looked lost, but he was persuaded to stay and won the treble and left on a high.
