Quique Setien

As far as the team is concerned, Messi does virtually everything he wants on the pitch. This is starting to show limitations, serious limitations, even against La Liga teams. It used to be only CL teams above a certain level, now it seems even normal La Liga teams can see through these things.

The team is finished. We've seen enough games like this and there are more to come. Old and slow, barely grinding out results against weak opponents. It's been a while since it was fun watching the games.

Gave the team two days off. Coming back on Tuesday.
Can someone please let me know if there is any other team does that? very interested to see if this is a common occurrence.

Most of the squad are past it, but that doesn't mean setien isn't out of his depth. Somehow, we're playing worse than under valverde

Lol that Rakitic and Suarez sub just killed the game for us.

Griez was shit but Suarez was even worse and Rakitic is just another slow old fuck who helped Contributed to the shitty slow second half.

Nah, you're just projecting the poorer games under Setien with some of the best under Valverde. Speaking about this season.

Levante and Granada away are still the worst performances I've seen this season from us.

Apparently Griezmann was injured, might miss rest of Liga.

Yes, it is average when you have unlimited powers. He needs much better than that if he is to continue to have a free role and play how he wants.

Messi hasn't been at his best, anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. But to say he has been average is very harsh. 20+ goals and 20+ assists would be a career season for a lot of world class players. Can you name another player that would get the same numbers as him, playing the same role in this crappy team?

For some reason, he has a grudge against the so called Amigos and since Messi is included, he will nitpick every now and then. He isn't his best for sure, but still heads and shoulders above many players in this team. Someone being older should have better players around him but Messi literally plays with zero wingers. No one dares to create danger, except him. Unless someone else can do the same, I cant really fault him that much.

Sure, man, if you look only at the numbers, you can say it's harsh, don't have a problem with that. But those numbers are really not enough, considering the role he wants to play. We need to look at the context in which these numbers are achieved. If he is to play like a normal player 20+ goals and 20+ assists is great. But his numbers are largely the whole offensive plan of this team. And it's just not enough.

Of course Messi will have unusual number of assists if he drops deep and everyone gives him the ball all the time to make the play. It doesn't mean he is playing great. It means the team is looking for Messi to create everything in attack.

His influence is not achieved naturally, like it happened in the past, in his best days. It is given to him by the role he plays now. That is the problem. In order for Messi to achieve these numbers, we have declined as a team.

I frankly don't care if Messi's numbers are good if giving him the platform to reach those numbers without changing his game makes us play like shit. His goal scoring against good teams away has been poor this season.

We struggled to score big time away. That's why we lost the league.

He was injured and unavailable for a few games. Apart from Griezmann's great game vs Real Betis the team looked like a joke without him and have done so since Neymar left.

Messi is far from perfect and there's problems with the system given how he plays and where he plays, but he's not Barcelona's biggest problem. Not even close.

Even if you forget about a player posting the same numbers as messi, if you could swap messi with any other player in the world, do you think we would be having a better season than we are currently having with this crappy team?

This Barcelona side might be the slowest, least athletic and most boring top team in Europe right now, in an era where teams are starting to sign players with athleticism, pace.

Abidal is an awful Sporting Director. Bartomeu is cluelesss.

Need to add another 30-year-old to this squad that will fix it. :valverde:
