Nelson Semedo

Final ball is still a big weakness but the guy really brought the joga bonito with his dribbling today. Some really nasty moves out there by the touchline.

When he is on, Semedo is this good. Still lacks the final offensive ball in the slow methodical Barcelona style. But if Barcelona had a centre forward who could counter at pace like Haaland or Eto'o of years back then Semedo could do alot more damage with his pace, crossing and a more route 1 option.

I was watching a video of Barcatalk (youtube channel) and the guy said something interesting. The board seems to put on the transfer list anyone who looks promising/good!! Thus arthur and semedo were put on the list lmao... Im no conspirationist but its easy to make a case for a conspiracy with those fucks above.

Nah, they're putting players that have value in the transfer market for sale.

Who is going to sign Rakitic, Vidal, Suarez and take on those wages? They had to sell for 124m in total for this financial year as that's something they budgeted for which is why the Arthur-Pjanic deal was made.

From what I have seen of Emerson, he is extremely promising. I expect him to take the RB spot in 2 years if he stays

Getting rid of him would be a mistake.

Yes if we wouldn't replace him (which I'd expect to happen) and just give Roberto a guaranted starting RB position. I like Roberto but he shouldn't be unquestionable starter.

No if we would get a good replacement whether bring back Emerson (I like him a lot even if he's not a typical Barca fullback but I think we should move away a bit from our usual Barca DNA thing) or buy someone like Dest whose upside is much higher than Semedo's and he's available for relatively cheap.

But it seems interest in Semedo has cooled off in recent weeks and we also don't need to sell desperately after balancing the books with Arthur-Pjanić swap so he might stay. It won't happen but I wouldn't mind keeping Semedo and buying Dest as his competition while moving Roberto to cover in midfield (where there will be some open spots with hopefully Raki and Vidal both leaving). Then next summer sell Semedo (not ideal with just a year left on his contract) for whatever we can get, bring back Emerson and let him and Dest battle it out at the RB position. We should strive to have that kind of a healthy competition amongst young and motivated players at as many positions as we can. Of course it's possible that none of the two will prove to be a longterm answer but I think one of them could make it. The other could back him up for a few years and then possibly be sold for a solid money while still being relatively young and with not too high financial investment in them.
