Wolfe and I usually don't see eye to eye but he's on the money on this one.

No CLs until this entire group of seniors is a distant memory.

Yea, except we're not talking about CL only here. We're approaching post-Messi era fast, and even domestic dominance is in jeopardy if we don't sort out this mess fast and start to put the base of a new team that is created outside Club de Amigos influence and their personal whims.

The sacred cows wanna keep the level low in intensity, to have fun playing for more years and running shit. Basically doing whatever they want without the manager having a big say on things. And this ain't a valid way forward for this team at this point in time.

Been telling you this for 2 years fellas. Suarez, Busquets, Pique and at this point probably Alba too. Whoever is at least partly culpable in large failures and refuses to be humbled or chooses to side with his mates needs to go, just like Raul and Guti had to for us to start anew. Messi in 3 years max too, not only because IMO there's absolutely no reason start anything new with a guy you need to shift the entire structure around and he's gonna be gone within 5 years (unless you find a 1 to 1 replacement at AM/SS, maybe Coutinho? still? but it'll be too late by then), but also because you need a new captain.

Xavi wont coach this team under Bartomeu. Victor Font confirmed in an interview the other day that Xavi will be part of his project and hinted about the possibility of Pep and Puyol. Remember, even Puyol rejected to work under Barto. Long term for Barca this is good. The club wont survive another term with Barto's puppets.

That would be great news. Clean the house from the top to down.

We've agreed with these things mate. For years we're pushing for a change and for us to get out from the veterans influence. The standard has to go back up and whoever doesn't care to try to match that should either go or be forced out no matter the status or past achievements.

Yeah, except you're fixated on the manager who is 2nd down the ladder of the project at best. If you have a wanker of a president who fosters these irreformable individuals, no manager will succeed in doing their job. They can get benched for months for their behaviour and all that will do is make results suffer. It's Bartomeu who must go, because he doesn't see their departure as a solution to the problem.

Good candidate for 2020 elections, then the project. Until then CL is a distant dream.

We've insisted on the manager because he is in the most direct contact with the team, and the easiest to replace (we're not getting rid of Bartomeu until 2021 anyway, so no point in insisting on him), as opposed to the President who is elected by vote and has a clear mandate, but you'll find that there is very low support for the board as well. In fact, you know this already.

Also, it will be interesting to see the board's reaction next, because they've brought in a manager who doesn't seem to be very flexible or as mellow as Valverde.

Fun times.

It seems the Catalan press is already turning on Setien.

Setién got his approach wrong and the team once again felt the absence of a centre forward [sport]

'Very, very worrying' [sport]

'Lost' [md]

Maxi Gómez punished a gray Barça without freshness and provokes Setién’s first defeat [md]

Ter Stegen saved a penalty but couldn’t save a team who generated more possession than real danger [md]

Wonder why it took them 3 matches to turn against Setien whilst they didn't turn like that against Zeroverde even after Roma, Anfield, CdR lost vs. Valencia or the recent ATM defeat....

I expect the board to go on a wild spending spree upcoming summer to renew the squad. Not because they know that it's necessary, but because Bartomeu and his succession candidate depend on a great last season to win the elections in 2021, if it isn't moved forward depending on how this season end.

The problem is that they might not know what type of players they need to sign and which positions they need to sign for, and which players they need to move past(Pique and Busquets being the most notable players, also Suarez because of his age and knee).

I assume from the boards perspective , Neymar would be the "obvious" move. You keep the fans who love those galctico signings happy , the club de amigos and Messi might even extend his contract.

Napoli having a good game vs Juventus, they seem really dangerous, gonna be very difficult tie, really hope we will not go there with 3 at back and S.Roberto being one of them.

so the players are already turning against a manager who hasnt been here for 3 weeks and yet stood by Ernie after Roma and Anfield?

I dont buy it yet. Could be Sport spewing bullshit like always.

Also, its hilarious to me that these Catalan media are already turning on Setien on his 3rd game and never did that to EV even after Roma and Anfield  I really wonder how EV has got this cult from Barca and non-Barca fans. its crazy to me.

There could be tons of reasons if true.

1. Maybe amigos see that his tactics are a total nonsense and that he doesn't know what is he doing (for a top club level)
2. Maybe players discussed with Lucho and EV about tactics and maybe a coach and amigos knew about their strengths and weak areas and maybe a coach and players agreed on tactics together to some extent.
This could explain why all senior players liked EV. Maybe they really had the same views what should be done in this moment.

Setien, maybe he came and tried to install weird tactics and players think: this shit won't work with 33 year old players.
Or: these tactics don't work anymore, yet a coach doesn't understand it.

Offtopic: I have read an article about a Bosnian coach Osim.
Apparently in late 80s, Real Madrid wanted to hire him, but he declined.
He said: I couldn't take a job because I felt that RM players are too big for me.
I didn't know what to tell them and how to train them. Who am I to tell to Butrageno how to move and shoot?

Anyway, this coach Osim was honest.
He felt that he is not good enough for that level and that there is nothing what he can teach RM players.

Now, Messi and amigos had a lot of coaches in their careers.
What if they think that he is clueless and that his methods don't make sense?

People will reply: lol, they had EV. Nobody can't be worse than EV.
Or: Setien is smart, he plays chess.

Well, he didn't win a single title in his career or played a CL match.

Anyway, these are just some ideas about a story that players are turning a back to him.

We don't know how much influence players have in setting tactics...

Either way I think we are out. I don't see how our slow oldies will match up with the pace, the youth and the intensity of Napoli

If all this is true, then this club is just pathetic

No genuine top coach would come here to work with these entitled clowns, Xavi was a smart guy for turning us down because he knows we’re done or heading there. This team needs a complete overhaul as Wolfe said. That’s what would happen if Klopp or Pep comes in.

But seriously what do these guys and Valverde know about tactics? I bet they probably know a thing or two but if you keep shitting yourselves in every big cup game time and time again who’s taking them seriously?.

It’s too bad they didn’t know about their strength and weak areas a couple weeks ago when they got cucked by Athleti. It’s all well and good to churn out the results against the Granada’s and all the other weak teams in Spain but when we keep getting blown away by other European teams then changes are a must.

The amigos are done and if you ask me are out of place to be questioning the methods of a coach who’s only be here for a couple weeks. Guys like Alba, Busi and Piqué should realistically be out of this club by next season max.
