After 2nd session, Vidal looks like one of those Chilean miners who were trapped in a mine for days and Rakitić like he has seen a ghost.

Rakitic doesn't look healthy in general imo judged by his skin colour. He is just so damn pale, despite living in Spain.

I saw couple of clips from training today. This could backfire because those grannies could be dead tired in april lmao

It's alrite. This forum reckons 30+ year olds can still pull off this kind of pressing and intensity, therefore they'll be fine.

Looool this is too funny.

Hmmm... that's what rebuilding is. Cut off the older players who can't keep up the pace, and replace them with new young players who have the hunger and the drive to put up the required work.

Outside of Messi there aren't any veterans who can't be replaced.

Actions speak louder than words. I remember Valverde talking how he wanted to incorporate youth in one his first press conferences only to put Alena in the stands in a meaningless game against Olympiakos.

True. Ernie lied to us all. Told us what we wanted to here and protected the veterans so he can win a few titles. Hopefully this guy matches his statements with cold hard actions.

I'm worried these sessions might be too intense for a squad who has been managed by a manager that thinks physical preparation is not very important. I hope we don't do an Arsenal where we play intense for 45 mins only to be walking corpses in the 2nd half.

I am reading the last posts now and wanted to say the same:
1. If we won't train hard, we will be a team of grannies who can't cope with younger teams
2. If we'll train hard, we will be a team of grannies who still can't cope with pressing teams plus we will be dead tired and finished in March.

It will be interesting to see which type of a team's death has Setien picked.

I see. And of course a manager who says fitness is not important and gives players a lot of days off surely doesn't have any role in the weak physical state of the team right?

Be honest now.

You're desperately hoping he fails right? Just like you admitted a few years ago you were actively rooting for Neymar to fail even if it hurt the team.

This is why managers don't usually pick up teams in the middle of the season. They depend a lot on the work done by the previous staff. But let's hope it will pan out, because it is vital in CL to be able to play with intensity and press teams.
