The most entertaining, exciting and complete footballer to ever live. He was deadly no matter which inch of the pitch he was on.

The past generation, mine and younger need to realize that we might not see a better player in our lifetime.

You can determine how a player is doing through stats or merely observing his performances firsthand. The fact is there has never been a player like Ronaldo- you can't say anyone has ever played like he has :)

AHEM! AHEM!!:xavi::messi::ibra: & the one & only :pep: These guys have some thing to say to you I suppose :D

Lol I love the current Barcelona squad. They are my favorite team and Leo won my heart when he was just 18. He is the only footballer of my generation that has a chance of reaching the level of Ronaldo. He's only 22 and I pray that he does but realistically I see him falling a bit short.

His body cannot take it anymore and he is going to retire in 2010. Like I said in the Milan-Real Madrid thread, once he retires along with Ruud, Pippo and Raul, football as I know it will come to an end. All time greats, players who have defined football to me are leaving nothing short of amazing achievements. I don't know how I feel about this, not sure how connected I am still to football after these players leave but I am pretty sure great things are to come. Once they leave I will start to appreciate modern football as I will sooner than later forget about comparing and will give the chance for modern footballers to redefine the game without an overcast of heavy shadows.

Ronaldo, for all the club trotting you did, you will be without a doubt, my favorite football player of all time. I get goosebumps when I see him play. I will never say goodbye, I will always pretend he is playing football in Brazil.

That's very moving Raed, and also very valid. But for all the talk about the corruption of the game, the changes for the worse... there will be more of football as it should be. I don't know how long it will take for iconic figures such as Ruud, Inzaghi and Raul to emerge though. Messi, for example, is too 'fresh'. Atm I don't think there are any other true veterans (nor will there be any), the Keane's and the Rivaldos, but surely sometime soon...

I think were gonna make it
classic player played for your beloved barca and my beloved inter
its amazing how he plays so well despite the fact his knees are not very bulletproof

also a idol to players like :ibra:

Best striker ever and my all time favourite player. No player could match Ronaldo in his prime nowadays, NO ONE is anywhere near Ronaldo, He had the skills of C Ronaldo and Messi the finishing of Eto'o, incredible Speed strength, perfect player.

Isn't their a thread about him?? But he was the best striker you could find in his prime, speed, technique, control, shot accuracy was all good. Ronaldo still plays pretty well in Corinthians but he still lacks speed, but if he workouts more he can get some of his speed back. Now he is being joined with Roberto Carlos in Corinthians as well, which is great because they are both 2 of the best players from the Brazil NT.

If no such thing as injures existed Ronaldo wouldve been up there with Pele and Maradona. Definitely the most talented of his generation but not the best. Zidane was.

The lower case first letter of his name in this topic title is annoying me

+1
Its hurting my eyes.

No, he didn't have Eto's finishing. Eto's finishing could be terrible at one at these days, where he could easily miss 2 or 3 times one on one with the keeper.

Ronaldo on other hand, would be deadly effective when gets on scoring position. His finishing was much much much better than Eto's, although it doesn't mean that Eto is not a great striker too.
