Arthur

Stories about Arthur partying are present for some time now and would explain a lot especially his low stamina and Valverde benching him so frequently during the last couple of weeks. I sincerely hope that's not true but if it is we should get rid of him ASAP. We should have ZERO tolerance for that stuff. You know what they say, where there is smoke there is fire...

3-4 weeks ago, I was watching La Liga match on a Tv and was reading match chat here so I wasn't 100% focused on what a commentator was saying.
But he talked about a 2nd incident and how EV was angry at Arthur.
The first incident this season was partying with Neymar.
And the 2nd one was something with some pics which Arthur posted on Instagram or similar, when he was supposed to be at his home resting for the upcoming match, but he was out at 3AM with his friends and posting pics of his night out on social media.
Something like that...

Regarding stamina or off field problems, here is a comparison between 2 young midfielders, Frenkie and Arthur and how much they have played under EV lately:
Sevilla 4:0=Frenkie 90, Arthur 65
Eibar 3:0=Frenkie 79, Arthur 71
Slavia 2:1=Frenkie 90, Arthur 84
Valladolid 5:1=Frenkie 60, -
Levante 3:1=Frenkie 90, Arthur 66
Slavia 0:0=Frenkie 90, -
Celta 4:1=Frenkie 90, Arthur 90
Leganes 2:1=Frenkie 70, -
Dortmund 3:1=Frenkie 90, -

In the last 9 matches:
Played=Frenkie 9 times, Arthur 5 times
Minutes total=Frenkie 749, Arthur 376
In the same time:
After Seville's match:
Frenkie 659 minutes
Busi 570
Vidal 320
Arthur 311
Rakitic 180

** Also, it was a joke in the beginning, but Arthur hasn't played a single minute since this incident:

After a fight with Messi:
Frenkie 160 minutes
Busquets 147 minutes
Rakitic 111 minutes
Vidal 45 minutes
Arthur --

Someone on another forum said some source on Catalonian radio claimed Arthur is living an unhealthy lifestyle, clubs a lot and consumes drugs. Barcelona can’t use him as he wouldn’t pass the doping tests.

Couldn’t find anything online about it myself and asked the guy to post a source. Maybe someone here picked up something about it?

The drug part is some heavy bullshit.. If he were he wouldnt be on the bench be cause bench players are also susceptible to take drug tests.

Arhutr doping    the shit that I read from EV excusers keeps getting funnier.
Bale already proved PEDs rules are as enforced as running into penalty box before the ball is kicked.

then why is Pique not benched after going awol on business ventures + admitting he doesn't get enough sleep? this is one of the biggest issues with Valverde

Fair point.

1. He is Catalan. Catalonia is on a verge of a war with Spain. Pique is a symbol of Catalonia and was always trolling Spain/Madrid/Ramos and everything.
So, in rocky political times, Pique means way more to Catalonia than just being a footballer.
They need his presence, they need him here.
Politics and Catalonia are more important than defensive errors in this moment.
My country had a war in 90s, and we had our own symbols and Piques, who later overstayed even for 5 years or more. But they had to play due to past achievements, political points and emotions.
2. Club de amigos

In reality, every player who is unprofessional, like Dembele, Pique or Arthur should be benched.
Young Dembele was benched and crucified by media.
Arthur coud be in the same problems soon.
Pique is, as explained=Pique/Catalonia/Club's symbol/a potential future president

If we'll use my coins theory, Pique has 100 points left on his account.
Arthur has 20 points left.
Dembele has only 2 coins left.
Doing stupid things off field will cost you 10 points per incident.
If you'll add 2 mistakes to Arthur=he is benched.
If you add another mistake to Dembele=he is gone and no one is even talking with him anymore when he gets injured.
When Pique plays tennis and poker, he still has 90 points left (but also, you can add an unlimited amount of new coins due to Catalonia's political problems).

That's how it works with past achievements.

You can never fool coins, man.
Coins never lie :pique:

We can't be sure about anything regarding Arthur's off the field lifestyle at this time. Once we do we can crucify him no problem, but maybe we should not dive into random reports.

lol Doesn't take a genius to conclude that he has off the pitch issues. Why else would Rakitic who was relegated to the bench and put on sale suddenly start ahead of him? EV randomly hates Arthur?

Arthur was the only Barca player who attended Neymar's birthday party last season.

Went clubbing with him again 2 months ago when Neymar came to Barca for his court case.

That's just the tip of the iceberg we get to know from the press, who knows what other lifestyle choices he makes. Same as Démbéle. One looks chubbier and less athletic than me as a professional, the other can't stay fit for 3 games in a row.

Football as a whole is declining because of this, new generation wealthy kids dedicating most of their time more and more for Social Media fame, partying and gaming.

The likes of Verratti, Marquinhos and so on all have the same issues in Paris.

We were so lucky with professionals like Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets. Their talents aside, they were hard-working family man. "School boys", as a famous Swede once said. Now comes the pink or blue haired, dabbing, all-night gaming, pokering, social media fame generation. No wonder French Walcott is seen as the biggest talent these days. Football as a whole is declining steadily.

A bit harsh and jumping to conclusions really really fast regarding Arthur, for my taste at least.
One reason why EV starts Rakitic again could be because he keeps whining. Like Vidal did last season. That's a valid assumption.

This makes not much sense to me. If we assume that Rakitic has played now because he is whining, why is Vidal the next one in line who gets subbed in? You can't convince me that we have a coach who purposefully benches his intended starting midfielder for good and for games in a row because another one on the transfer list is unhappy. The treatment he gets now is a routine disciplinary treatment.

I wouldn't say this is a "disciplinary treatment" as we really have no evidence for this.

EV has a long history of weird lineup choices. Starting from Semedo last season and continuing to Alena and Arthur this season.
Vidal was subbed in because the way EV thinks, he is better defensively than Arthur and his plan was to defend for the last 30 minutes. This backfired of course when vidal couldn't make a simple 5m pass and we conceded too much pressure.

I am not trying to convince anyone that "we have a coach who purposefully benches his intended starting midfielder for good and for games in a row because another one on the transfer list is unhappy". I am saying that we have a coach with really weird lineup choices and should wait before jumping to conclusions about certain players.

Name one case other than Semedo vs Roberto.
In all other cases, EV wasn't making weird choices but just hasn't played young, overrated forum favorites like Dembele, Malcom, Arthur, Alena, Puig, Mina, Todibo, Wague.

Regarding what Observer said about new gen of players, Lewandowski said a few weeks ago that new kids at Bayern are different than his generation.
They aren't leaders. And aren't fighting as hard as players 10-20 years ago.

That could be a problem in the future.
These new kids get too rich too soon, aged 20.
And a new era of internet and social media is creating superstars, Goats and similar out of them after a few good Months of football.
Imo, it will be way harder for these new gen of players to grow up properly.
Xavi or Iniesta weren't earning 12m per season aged 21 like Dembele and didn't have millions of followers on Instagram.
Probably too many of these new kids will fall into trap and end as Neymars and Dembeles, players who had a potential to achieve way more, but money, fame, off field life, partying, gaming have ruined their careers.

Dembele probably opens his Instagram and reads millions of messages from 13 years old fans how he is the greatest.
Why should he change then?
It is so easy to fall into a trap and fell for your own hype today.

I mean, on this forum we have grown men who understand football and majority needed 2 years to figure out that Dembele is a fraud of a player.
Now, imagine a level of delusion in teen fans who don't understand football, tactics or a human psychology.
And then imagine a not too bright ultra rich 20 and something footballer falling for that hype, followers, likes and messages.
IQ, mental strength, professionalism and press-resistance-towards-social media-hype will be very important aspects in player's development in the future.

One good example of weird lineup selection is the Liverpool return leg. Because EV himself corrected his mistakes in Camp Nou and subbed on Semedo instead of Coutinho, as he moved Sergi at the midfield.

Then he goes at Anfield and fields the same starting lineup that got molested at Camp Nou (until the changes) and still leaves Arthur out of the game. Mind boggling stuff.
This season he starts Alena for the first league game, subs him of at half time and NEVER plays him again. Ever. Like he had some kind of unrecoverable disaster game. Which he didn't. Is that "disciplinary treatment" for Alena? How about Junior Firpo? We have no left back as Alba is injured and for several games he prefers to use Semedo as left back instead of an actual left back. Is that "disciplinary treatment" for Firpo? The answer is no. It's a tactical decision.

Regarding Alena, he was probably forced by the board to start something new.
He tried Alena and Roberto in midfield.

But over time, he is returning to roots.
So maybe playing Alena was an order from the board.

Firpo was very bad in the beginning.
In the last league match, we conceded after he lost the ball and yesterday he allowed too much space to Sancho when he scored iirc.

Since EV's job was at a stake, he didn't want to play a LB who is young, green, raw and very prone to deadly errors in this moment.
Can you blame him?

Football is more professional now than ever before. Heavy drinking before and after games was the norm in the past. This reads like a classic boomer post.
