Just curious: if he has a bad season, how will it undermine everything he's already achieved? If anything, he can only solidify his status as a GOAT contender (if he manages to do something meaningful).

One could argue that he has only scored a combined total of 9 goals against elite/top national teams in his 16 year old international career.

If Messi had played for a team like Portugal for 16 years in a row in the same UEFA federation, he would have easily scored 20-30 goals more. If not reached 100 goals already (32 more goals).
