I would of loved to get a striker to replace Suarez instead of Neymar, he hasn't shown much this preseason to think he will be any better than the last two, which is simply nowhere near good enough. The worst part about Suarez is how he puts a dagger in 4/5 of the transitions into attack that he is a part of. Which is tough to say since I was such a huge fan of his even since LFC.

But what striker will replace him in this market?

A healthy Neymar makes our team better, whether we play him, Messi or even Griezman in Suarez' position.

As of today, Aug. 13, the negotiations are stacked.
What a circus stories comes from Paris? The Catalan media "Sport" has reported just few hours ago about the first meeting of Bartomeu with Leonardo in Paris. Here are some important moments of this negotiation.
Barcelona sold Neymar to PSG for 220 mil euro. What Leonardo has asked today is Coutinho (100 mil euro ), Semedo (40 mil.) and a third player of their choice, for a one year loan. They want that player to be Rakitic (40 mil. euro ) and on the top of that, they have asked for 100 mil euro cash. That comes down to 280 mil euro, which is like a joke. Basically, the Qatar Prince does not want Neymar to go back to Barcelona. He clearly hate the Catalan team and will do anything in his power to destroy any positive negotiation. So, I think it is time for our board to stop this drama, once for ever and start looking for replacement of Luis Suarez. We have imperative need of one clear central forward to become our starter at # 9. There are 17 days to the closing of the transfer window. We don't need to continue this stupid negotiations with PSG. It's becoming irritating.

Funny thing is, transfer fee was never his actual value, but just his buy-out clause for any club not to deal with Barca.
All the football world became nuts that PSG did this, and hyperinflated the market afterwards. His actual transfer value was between 100-125M at the time PSG paid the buy-out clause. (source Transfermarkt, which we can generally take as a good source for value. And Pogba was just transferred for the record sum of 105M).

Currently his transfer value sits around 180M, which is just a logical fact based on 222M was never a value based on transfer value. How PSG can value Neymar at 280M is beyond nuts. This way we can value Rakitic at 90M, Coutinho at 160M and Semedo at 120M for all we care.

I would say, based on the fact the Qatari Price doesn't want to sell. Let Neymar be the lesson for every footballer in the world.
Once you transfer to a oil/gas funded club, you are just a slave puppet of a billionare who does not value anything below 500M, but just sees you as pocket money and a toy.
Your in a golden cage, learn to deal with it, and have fun rotting on the bench once you get into your final year of contract.

Seems only a matter of time, his return looks a virtual certainty with only the final details to be worked out - I think there will be quite a bit of fake news on the specifics until the dust settles

Still very curious to how we can afford him. We've spent so much money these last few years.

Our squad is great but very soon we'll need a new CB, probably a CM and a CF if Griezmann can't adapt to that position.

The signing of Neymar will obstruct the strengthening of all other positions.

Neymar was worth way more than 120 mil€ when bought. Pogba wasn't even close to his level, marketing or skill.

If he comes we might have too many players next season. But I believe this will be Suarez last one. This means that we will have Messi, Griezmann, Dembele and Neymar for 2020 with Messi being 33!

This is what you call planning and stop us for being desperate for attacking players later.

Somebody doesn't understand that at Barcelona he was great against the best teams in the world, and at PSG he was great vs teams from cities known more for mustards and mayonnaise than football.

Neymar was better at PSG than at Barcelona biggest joke of the night. Give me one performance vs an elite team comparable to Neymar's game in the 6-1 vs PSG in the last two years lol.

Did you by any chance watch the game against Napoli and LFC?
At PSG he was clearly being selective of what games to give optimal performances.
Against Napoli and Liverpool he was the single most effective player controlling the flanks and midfield, while still dictating the tempo of the game and creating chances.

All the talk about him being the 2e best player in the world doesn't change the fact that right now at age 27 (and a half) he hasn't lived up to expectations.

Based on talent he's perhaps the 2e best but certainly not based on performance last season.

Were you expecting him to perform from the hospital bed?

We really can't make the mistake of being too desperate. Neymar is in no way a necessity and we'll do fine without him.
PSG shouldn't be able to press Semedo or more money out of us.

But watch us fuck everthing up because of Bartomeu's need for attention.

Don't worry, we will win La Liga easily, but if you expect us to win the UCL with the current front line, you are delusional.
Don't expect much from Griezmann other than some flashes of brilliance.
Suarez is done when it comes to BIG games in the UCL he does nothing.
As it stands all we have is Messi.

He hasn't watched more than 3 PSG games, and the ones he did watch he was too busy seething with rage to pay attention. He keeps deflecting to "stat-tards", but it's a matter of the eye test too. He's stronger at riding challenges, his burst of acceleration is still there, he is far more creative with his passing and dribbling, and his reading of the game is far better. This is something you'll easily see if you've watched Neymar at PSG in the past two years. The only negatives are his injuries + his ball hogging.

Anyone who thinks 2015 Neymar is Neymar at his prime is either delusional, an idiot, or both; Serghei's both.

I would call him the 2nd best in the world in ability, but not overall because he's been injured for half a season. Just like I would call Kevin De Bruyne a top 3 midfielder, despite being MIA for an entire season. The people saying he's not even top 20 are just seething in rage.

We could buy prime Pelé, I'd still be skeptical to winning the CL with Valverde as a coach.

To be fair it is very difficult to compare Neymar's performances in the French league to his performances in La Liga. The French league (on the whole) is a pretty low standard.

I'll agree that the standard is lower, but you guys overestimate the disparity way too much. You guys are acting like the French League is equivalent to Kazakhstan football or something. I doubt stomping Eibar, Levante, Villarreal etc with Barcelona is that much harder than stomping Saint Etienne, Nantes, Rennes etc with PSG.
