Matthijs de Ligt

I hope we will not be stupid enough to even entertain the thought of spending upwards 150m to get him in a few years, even if he turned out to be great. 150m aside, his wage will be very high since it is between 12m and 14m already at Juventus.

We can get other great CBs for much cheaper and not necessarily worse than him.

I think choosing somewhere you're definitely going to play is the responsible thing to do.

This is true.

Our fraud of manager would probably bench him for most of the season.

Just look at the likes of Arthur who gets benched for Trashitic. It's tragic, dawg.

Juve is a great destination for him tbh.

Matthijs de Ligt refuses his favorite club, because he's scared of the competition.
Frenkies joined his favorite club, and he refused the club where he could get more playing time.

If he's really that good. He would easily walk in the starting eleven anyway. But ya, don't think Juve is a bad choice either. I'm just not a fan of the Serie A. It ain't what it used to be.

Yup.

Imo, de Ligt has been very smart and did sensible business for himself : big wages, playing time and he allows himself a door for a departure with that clause. He absolutely gets everything. I wont blame him for being smart and getting the absolute best deal.

De Ligt would've been a starter here in a very short time, even if Valverde is our manager. He's that good.
Anyway, I dont think he'll improve Juve that much. They're more in need of midfielders and attackers. I dont see them buying any other really expensive player this summer.
It'll be interesting to see de Ligt under Sarri though.

You forgot that de Jong was going to PSG, by his own words, before the last minute push of Barça. De Jong felt his demands have been met by the catalan club and signed for them. De Ligt doesn't feel his demands have been met and will sign for the club who have accepted them.

Easier to deal with De Jong dawg.

He didn't ask for 16m NET from our club like some other money driven kid.

Smh.

gonna sound salty but we should just forget about him now, even in the future years. the wages he'll be getting are insane for a 19yo,in years ahead it's obvious they will be even higher and i'm not sure it would be worth to splash so much money on CB. todibo is already here,i'd give him chance to prove himself

Just hope that if we DO miss out on him that he isn’t absolutely amazing in the coming years

don't think it really matters in the end. what are the absolutely amazing central defenders of the last 30 years and what we remember them for?

i don't even think the main problem for juventus was CB. sure, they had to get someone for the future, but in the end they have a shite midfield and an ageing ronaldo who can't guarantee them the CL. i'm not even convinced they have the money for de ligt...

According to the most reliable journalist for Juventus, Agresti, they agreed on a contract of 8m net a year plus bonuses of 4m net so about 12m net if bonuses will be met.

Ok so all is well and good so far.

What has been reported is that we offered De Jong level wages or very close to that. Apparently these wages were not even close to what PSG/United/Juve were offering. Again everything makes sense until now.

What we know from the resident PSG fans bere is that we singed De Jong because we gave him a final offer of 10m net + 6m net bonuses which trounced PSG's offer by far.

But how is it possible that Juve's offer is so much better than ours when he'd get almost 10m net a year from us? It doesn't really add up. So what is it? Maybe Agresti is wrong when he says that he'll earn 8m+4m a year and his wages are going to be even bigger. Or maybe De Jong is not really on 10m + 6m net a year or those maybe are gross numbers for him, basically making De Jong earn 8m/year net which would be well bellow what Juve and the others were paying.

So which is it?

De Ligt will be earning 24m gross, which means 12m net + bonuses. This will make him the highest paid CB itw. Higher than Pique, Ramos and VVD. which is insane.
I dont think De Jong is actually earning 10m + 6m bonuses. Thats way too much. I think its around 8m + bonuses. So we offered de Ligt similar wages to De Jong but he refused.

does juventus really have that kind of money? they splashed the pogba money on higuain and then on ronaldo(after selling higuain). but otherwise can't remember them splashing that kind of cash on a player who is also a CB.

Yeah, I was surprised to see how much they've offered him. They're already paying huge wages to Ronaldo, I dont know how they can afford 24m for a 19 yr old. Cant imagine the likes of Chilleini are too happy that a 19 yr old earns much more than him.
Although, I heard that Fiat pays some of the Ronaldo wages but I'm not sure how true that is. If it is indeed true, then I could see them helping Juve on de Ligt wages.
