So let's assume we'll loan out Todibo that leaves us with Pique, Umtiti, Lenglet and De Ligt. All of those players would be starters basically in every team in the world. So how to keep all of them satisfied? It looks easy on the paper but it won't be easy at all to give enough minutes to all of them. That's why I think a one year loan would be a good thing for both sides. De Ligt is a VERY young player and he needs to play every week to keep evolving as a player and as I see things right now he won't be able to bench Pique next season for sure.

Loan him out to Man United.
Man United has a weak defence. And on Redcafe, they're almost begging for De Ligt lol.

But ya, it will not happen. I think they would rather loan out Lenglet.

To be fair De Ligt is our solution for RCB while Umtiti and Lenglet are solutions for LCB. Only Pique is his direct competition so he could actually get a decent amount of minutes if Valverde knew how to rotate but we are talking about VALVERDE so I doubt he'll learn how to do that. Look I wan't him here but we need to be sure he keeps on developing because if he get's Malcom treatment we could ruin him. If we are not 100% sure Valverde will use him properly than he should be loaned out for one year.

Reality is that unless one of them get's injured for a long time we can't satisfy them all 4. That's just a situation you can't keep up for very long, like Madrid when they still had James, Morata, Kovacic etc on the bench. We can still try it for a season.

I don't think we would loan him, he is ready to play for us and another year of playing for Ajax doesn't help him compared to adapting in Spain asap.

Idk how Valverde would handle it. Tbh it's just sad that we talk about one of the best young players in the world and have to fear our manager could ruin him

He'll just go and join some other team then. Pique doesn't want to play for much longer so it's time to start phasing him out and we don't know if Umtiti's knee is fine yet.

This bit is key because his issue is not a simple fix with no guarantee that problems won't reoccur. Honestly speaking, he remains a big question mark going forward

Mentioning overbooking of CB's as a possible problem is a sane observation. However with Murillo and Vermaelen being certain to leave this summer, Umtiti's immediate and long-term future being uncertain due to his knee problems, Piqué's relatively advanced age (32) and Todibo being a complete unknown who might not even be used as a CB but more as a DM, it would be foolish not to go after a generational talent like de Ligt with potentially 10+ years of service for us at a very high level. Potentially elite level.

The LB position will likely be strengthened by a veteran, say Filipe or Monreal, who will come for free. The number 9 will probably be an upcoming talent with a similar profile as Jovic, Maxi Gómez and such players. Relatively cheap, young, with potential to turn into something very promising, typical number 9 but not completely limited in this role etc.

Rest will depend on whether we offload the likes of Rakitic (preferably) and Coutinho (hopefully, here is praying) or not. In such a case we might go for more high-profile signings depending on our transfer budget and the wishes of Valverde and the board.

I don't know if 70m will be enough. We'll have to ask Overmars lol.

But i think 70m is a fair price.
Some Ajax fans think he's worth 80-100m.

But what club will pay 100m for an 19 year old defender ?
No matter how good he is. He's just a defender. And he's playing in a weaker league.
Even in this crazy market, not much clubs wil pay 100m for an Eredivisie defender.

The funny thing is. The moment he'll sign for Barca. He will be worth twice as much instantly. But that's how life goes i guess.

P.S. According to the Spanish papers: PSG is also interested.

Value is an abstract thing. As long as more and more money flows into football prices increase. You will always have +/- 10 top teams but they will divide more money over roughly the same amount of players. It doesn't make sense to have over 18 squad players since only 14 can play a game (nr 19-30 should be youth players or veterans). Of these 18 there should a be a core of 6 - 9 players who are guaranteed a starting spot at big games. As soon as one of these starting spots becomes available the club will allocate X% of its transfer budget on that player. As long as that budget increases the player values increase.

Add some crazy Chinese, Arab, US spending, the huge UK tv-deals that give teams like Brighton 80m a year, panic at clubs like Real, Bayern etc and prices increase

Biggest factor is the top 10 desire for a Central defender.. I think Bayern, RM, Juve, MC, PSG, maybe Liverpool, ManU and Barca are interested. Bayern and RM may have picked another player.. Still a lot of bidding left

When MDL is considered top target and a club fails it also affects their season tickets, pre season merchanandise etc.

long story short. Give us 100m plz

70M€ seems fair, imo. Ajax will not push it too far, because of their relationship with the player, us and future youngsters they have to convince to commit to the club for another year or two.

Bonucci = 45M€
Luiz = 50M€
Stones = 55M€
Laporte = 65M€
Van Djik = 80M€

70M€ is a very fair amount, and Ajax better accept it.

Seems like all of you are wrong, and I was right, after all. Funny. Not that I expected anything else ;)

After reading that we got a 140mil (or 150) loan deal a month a go I'm sure he will play at Barça next season if we make a serious offer.

also ajax would be a bit dumb to sell quickly, they know de ligt's price can only go up and competition would benefit them, us giving a early bid would probably do nothing.

Same could be said about Frenkie but they already agreed about a deal weeks ago.
