I don't know how anyone can even judge him in this setup?
Yes, Mbappe looks like a real deal but I'm willing to bet ih he was here instead of Dembele he would look the same, and if Dembele was in L'pool for example he would fly.
At the end he could end up overrated but currently I can even rate him because of our static and slow game. He is a player of spped, power, dynamic...stop the video every time he got the ball yesterday and watch for ten minutes you will not see a pass, or something better to do with the ball, you will see 11 Leganes players and 10 Barca players standing around. That is why we only score after Messis or Coutinhos flash of brilliance. Nobody can thrive under this system.

This is barca system since 10 years.... since the Pep era.... and we are trying a replica of that system year after year. Barca DNA (Pep) coach first at all....
We bought players for this kind of tactics. We can't make any major changes because we don't have the players to do this. Klopp would have done a totally different transfer market.
Messi as false 9 is outdated, playing with Messi, Dembele, Coutinho and Suarez won't work (forget that Klopp would play with these 4 players together),....
And I stop here.

I agree 100%. People here analyze individual performances but the problem here is Barcelona terrible static building game... Nobody will thrive in this system. Messi will always look ok in any system but even him would look better with more movement.

Dembeles problem is pretty simple if you look at his strenghts and weaknesses: his first touch is inconsistenst, but hes bloody brilliant at driving the ball forward from midfield positions.

Now look at what is needed on each flank:
-left: advanced forward in the mold of David Villa, who makes runs into the box. Coutinho occupies advanced left midfield positions. Alba offers width.
-right: player who makes wide runs from midfield, because the right side is a lot less advanced (rakitic/roberto play deeper than coutinho/alba).

Valverdes solution: play Dembele on the left and limit him to make runs into the box (exactly what he did vs Leganes). Messi on his "false" right wing position - which suits him, but destroys our right side. Suarez playing his best position (and doesnt really justify it).

Not even this. Dembele is good for midtable teams. He is not even a future prospect it should be obvious by now talent wise.
Without Dembélé, the Barca will be 6th in the standings.
Remember that he saved the Barca on 3 games
successively.
for you seville is a middle table team Dembele saved barca in supercopa
against Seville. In the Valladolid area, the team was dead, but Dembele still saves the barca.
Huesca almost came back to 3 3 but Dembélé surprised the escor at 4-2.
With the psv, Dembélé takes the ball in the middle of the field and dribbles 4 players and gets a foul near the surface and Messi marks the free kick. Dembelé gives 2 goals in advance to Barca. From there, Psv has more strength and Messi scores 3 goals but everyone forgets the perfermonce Dembele, the praise is for Messi.

After all this: the Brazilian lobbies want to see Coutinho in attack to accompany Messi and Souarez and reduce the performance of Dembélé and Valverde made the choice, but it was a bad decision.
Coutinho's only weapon is the powerful shot, but not a dribbler like Dembélé who can create opportunities inside the box.

Well, you are right and wrong at the same time. As things stand now (this season), Coutinho is better dribbler than Dembele. But at the same time we need Coutinho in midfield, because without him, we have 0 creativity in there.

lol .Coutinho was substitute for 2 or 3 matches and Dembélé played every game and scored goals in 4 consecutive games until Valverde decided to change tactics to allow Coutinho to be decisive. Dembélé was better than him.
he is elected man of the match in Spain 3 times and Coutinho 0 times.
But Coutinho in the middle of the pitch is very important for Dembéle to counter-attack and create opportunities. yesterday, the barça played with 4 attackers. Coutinho was next to messi and they both prevented Dembele from going ahead.

Thanks to Stengen, Messi, Umiti for a score of 1 zero per game. they lost to 3 zero against the Roma without Countinho and Dembélé.
The only wide score was 6-1 in Girona on 24 February 2018 with dembéle and Coutinho.

That was the last season, precisely. Now is another season if you haven't noticed yet.

Personnel wise the squad may be better, but some of core players are clearly worse off than last season: Pique, Rakitic, Roberto...

The best ingredients in the world doesn't make the best dishe. Though Dembele is far from being a great talent so he can make up for his low football IQ. I'm absolutely confident that he as no future at Barça.

I'm not sure what people are expecting right now. we have a manager who has no clue how to handle youth and has us playing like a fucking Mourinho team, its not that suprising our attackers bar Messi look shit and clueless. Malcom will get his chance now and it'll be the same 'i dont think he has a future at Barca'. they have a solid future here once we get rid of EV and return to some form of attacking football, until then nothing will change. Dembele is raw and needs to be developed, maybe his move from Dortmund was a few years too early but Neymar left us up shit creek without a paddle.

Malcom will be next in the firing line, Arthur, Semedo and Dembele. are these players bang average or could it be EV has no idea what hes doing?

look at Dembele in his time at Dortmund and you'll see why his name was up there with the Mbappe's, he needs a manager that believes in him and plays to his (and our) strengths

Every criticism that was said about Dembele here, was said about him in BVB (and many in this forum warned us about it) before we signed him.
And same thing was said about players like Gomes/Paco etc with new coach after Lucho. Coaches help massively, but a great talent will develop regardless and fight his way through to stardom.
Dembele might be great talent and might not, but I won't give him the execuse of coach. I won't be surprised if a "real good coach" could either make him great or actually get sick of him and ship him out after year.
He is one of the most inconnventional players to see, some times I feel we have the next Ronaldinho and others I feel he is poor man Di Maria and it isn't just inconsistency with him
