2018 UEFA Super Cup - Real Madrid vs. Atlético de Madrid

They can do that all day for all I care as long as we win the CL. That’s the big one these days, no matter what some Barca fans try to tell themselves so they can sleep at night. Nobody gave a single fuck about our league trophy and CdR last season when RM won the CL.

Lopetegui being like Valverde has nothing to do with us winning the CL. Of course the league is important. If you think otherwise, you're wrong.

Anyways... if I was a Madrid fan, I wouldn't be dissatisfied with the play they showed. Some changes are there, ideas not yet clear, old habits keep producing etc. Will be interesting to see how this develops. Right now, I think they'll miss a poacher, scoring won't always be easy. Defensive blunders will be gone with match fitness. Not that the system's not working (like Barca's in the last season's Super Cup), but some parts might be missing.

I mean losing CR7 is big but Real still have the players to win and be competitive in the CL and league.

What's killing them is their backline. Misplaced passes, betting bullied hard and drawn out by Atletico's attackers to easily. And these guys aren't bad players at all, easily some of the best in their positions. Just a night to forget I guess.

One thing is to be to be competitive, the other thing is to win 4 out of 5.

RM will now be on the level of AM, Liverpool, Psg and similar in a CL.

CR7 need Iscos and Modrics to win a CL.
But Iscos and Modrics alone will extremely rarely win a CL without a matchwinner players like a CR7.

Reals first team is shit. An old Marcelo, an anger issues Ramos, an inconsistent child in Varane, a thug in Casimero, a non winger winger in Asensio and a ghost striker in Benzema

Only two Months ago they won their 4 Cl in 5 years with the same set of players.
Plus Zidane and CR7 though.

I hope lopetegui continues to dismantle Zidane football and replace it with this outdated tiki taka nonsense

Yes. Imagine if they change their CL winning football with going back 10-15 years back in time.
Lol. Crazy stuff.

I wouldn't underestimate Real just yet. We had a bit similar situation like Real with losing Neymar and losing to Real in both games in the spanish super cup. With the squad Real had and with the great season Real had, we thought it would be hard to compete with them at the top. Obviously Neymar is definetly not as productive as Ronaldo was, but the atmosphere Real is experiencing is a bit similar to us last year. After winning the domestic double with over double digits from ATM , I learned the lesson of never to underestimate an opponent especially with the likes of Real

Real can have a terrible season, but all I'm saying is let's wait until the end of the year before deciding that they are going to fall out of the top 4 as Real still have a lot of players with experience, I assume they want to prove a point that they can be competitive without Ronaldo and the lowered expectations can reduce the pressure of them.

But we lost Neymar.
They lost their Pep and 50% of their team.

I don't see too many relations with us losing Neyclown and they losing their best player in a history and the best coach in their history.

** About Real in general, we will win La Liga surely.
They will be lost without CR7 for some time until they find some new mechanisms and leaders.

I mean, I am willing to wear Dembele's avatar or something for a few Months if THIS Real Madrid wins La Liga over us.
Then you know how huge favorites we are...

I am more scared of Atletico.

Still cross merchants.

They've always been cross merchants (Bale, Carvajal, Marcelo crossing to Benzema and the now departed Cristiano (for Juventus) was turned into an artform during the Zidane years (can't believe we're saying that in the past tense now!)) but one can't deny the fact that they've plied their trade/honed their craft/peddled their wares exceedingly well over the years!

So the question is who (which players) can replace Cristiano's 44 goals in 44 appearances from last season. Bale was a distant 2nd with 21 goals and Benzema was third with twelve goals.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_Real_Madrid_C.F._season#Squad_statistics

Of course, it's not quite as simple as a simple like for like "replacement" of Cristiano's goals but the Madrid board better sign proven goalscorers quickly and/or Bale Benzema Asensio etc. significantly increase their personal goal tallies to compete with Atletico and us domestically and us, Juventus, PSG Bayern and City etc in Europe.

We also can't dismiss/forget just how much Zidane brought to the team. Cristiano's a smart guy: he knew that mucho of the mojo was gone once Zizou left.

Villarato!
That's interesting cos they used to be one of the countries with the fastest internet speeds in Europe. Not sure about now.

Don't know much about internet connectivity with them, but couldn't get a hold of any HD stream under 1.5 mins late. Most HDs are 30-40s behind due to quality, which I'm cool with. Me and my mates came up with a code to use in FB and Whatsapp chats for goalscoring chances and big events to not spoil the damn stuff, but this was ridiculous today. Has to be to do with the shitty ass broadcast

My response was to the ppl who think Real is going to finish 4th or drop out of the top 4 or not be competitive against us. The correlation I made to the loss neymar and the loss of CR7 and Zizou was that people expect both teams to do bad because of those departures and the loss of the spanish/uefa supercups, but last season Barca did better than expected and I could see Real exceeding expectations just like us.

I still see us as favorite (but not as much) for La Liga with ATM 2nd and Real 3rd but I wouldn't be surprised to see Real finish 2nd or maybe even 1st (chances of being 1st are smaller than ours I think, but they still have a chance!) and do well in the CL and it would be foolish to think they will be really bad or not to take them seriously because of the reasons I stated in my previous post.

Why I don't think Real's situation is not comparable to ours? Because they're not a mess. Their play is fine, general idea is there, team spirit is there... of course, we need a few matches to see how it turns out, but imo if they aren't doing good, it'll be due to their squad lacking certian types of players.
