What about the paulinho chance. Maybe dembele would have scored that. Chelsea did not outplay us. Willian had a brilliant game and should never have been allowed to shoot but Chelsea didn't create anything clear. We controlled the game and a draw was the right result

Barca didnt control that game.

If anything Chelsea controlled it and it went way they wanted it to more than Barca.

I agree that Chelsea only had 3-4 good shots from distance the whole game and that they did not dominate us by any means.

That said,we were TOOTHLESS in attack and this has been the case pretty much the whole season and especially the last month.

I agree that Valverde is taking it a bit too far with his ideas. He should be looking to integrate Dembele in the next month fast. Because Paulinho, Vidal and Gomes are looking pretty grim atm.

That's true. Some people make it sound like Chelsea dominated us because William caught two great shots from long range in the first half. Everything Chelsea had was based on winning the 2nd ball after poor passes or clearances from Roberto and Busquets mostly. They didn't create anything tbh, and were playing at home.

A chance is a chance though, it doesn't matter if it's a long range shot or a tiki taka move.

They had more chances than us and deserved to win.

Nah, we had misplaced pass after misplaced passes, gifted them with so many counter attacks, they were all over our defence, the reason why Willian had so much space is because they had so much width and we could hardly keep our focus on Hazard or Wllian or Pedro.

If they were nothing in attack then we are completely shite, to put it crudely. We basically created nothing in attack but just pass back and forth.

I dont think chelsea outplayed barca, its just that barca looks lifeless, unmotivated, same as last 2 seasons in CL, while their greatest rival just taking CL trophies like barca CDR trophies

It is time we embrace some modern football and become an all round better team. No shooting from outside the box, no aerial presence, just passing.

+1

We are soooo one dimensional.
We are attacking through the middle with shortpasses all the time.
All teams learned how to defend against us:
Park 2 buses around the box and that's it.
Also, all passes around the box will go to Messi all the time. So predictable.
And when we try to do something through the flanks, Roberto and guys will just try a backpass to the edge of a box and the opponents will intercept it

Basically:
1. Pass through the crowded middle
2. Pass to Messi in 90% of actions
3. Wing attacks will end with a backpass, lol

People will say: but this is "Barca's" style.
Well, wake up, this thing is an open book and totally predictable in 2018.

Set pieces: zero threat
Crosses: zero threat
Longshots: zero threat except Messi who will be marked with 3 players

Let's not forget 11/12 semis when we hit the post 4 times and had chances galore in both legs yet Chelsea went through without pulling off a single organized attack against us.

Tonight, Chelsea had good shots with Willian and another (that resulted in their goal) that was more like a huge defensive blunder on our part.

Now let's see what Chelsea can do at out place...

I think Valverde was very pragmatic in this game, too pragmatic. Played it not to lose even if it meant taking the 0-0 as a good result. Chelsea played the same. Both teams would've been fine with a 0-0 which is why nobody risked anything. The game was decided by two errors from both teams.

Chelsea didn't attack very much even at 1-1, being worried a 1-2 might end the tie for good.

Big mistake there. You need the away goal.

If you play for an 0-0 away and concede, you're pretty much fucked.

Chelsea didn't physically dominate us so I don't see why that should be mentioned. If anything, some of our players show worrying signs under pressure. Paulinho, Rakitic and Roberto are suspect. And all have been known to give the ball away in this situations (Rakitic and Roberto in the previous season as well).

This. You can check ball possession and it was 75% and 25% for Barce or whatever, but that was Conte's plan. He didn't care about possession. It's meaningless stat anyway. Possession means shit If you lose the ball all the time and concede goals.
