You are talking about "prestige" and "historically". I am not asking you to take away any clubs. But looking at the quality of the French and the Italian league over the past 5 years, its hard to argue that Serie A is a massively better than the French league. Plenty of players who do great in Serie A flop miserably in other leagues.

Look at this past decade, Italy has had a historic treble winning Inter team, a Juventus team that has won a record amount of leagues in a row and has made 2 CL finals. That's bigger than the entire history of Ligue 1.

And now Milan clubs getting heavy investments and the league will continue to grow while competition and quality of teams will increase.

Sorry, but there is just no way you can argue that Ligue 1 is anywhere near it, whether you look at it historically or modern day.

Boohoo go cry to LUIS ENRIQUE!
The way some of you guys are acting is eternally disgraceful.
No player is bigger than the club, if he wants to leave, let him leave.
If you were working for Google and Microsoft presented a better offer in terms of "PERSONAL" interest, would you turn it down?

It's not the fact he's doing it. It's HOW he's doing it. Throwing up a circus at the end of the transfer window when Barca is suppose to be getting ready for the season. Not to mention his father having the audacity to ask for more money on both sides of the deal. Neymar isn't taking charge of his career I see that. But he won't be relevant for much longer at this rate.

Barca will miss a great player and a potential legend, but it's his fault and Barca will move on just like they did when other greats and legends started to do fucking stupid things with their careers

Everyone is not standing still while French Football progresses. Everyone else is progressing too. Milan now have billionaire owners and are spending at amounts comparable to every other European giant.

Milan doesn't have billionaire owners:

“I’m not sure this new Milan have the resources to get back to winning,” he said. “There are debts to be covered and Milan will not make enough to cover them.”

The unusual structure of the deal – which had Li’s Hong Kong-based Sino-Europe Sports Investment pay €100m as a deposit last June before three further payments totalling €150m – has raised the most eyebrows. Having at first claimed the takeover was backed by the Chinese government (the press release from Berlusconi’s company Fininvest to announce the deal contained a reference to the Chinese government’s State Development and Investment Corporation that was later removed), Li revealed a few days before he was due to pay the remaining balance on a deal worth a total of €740m, including debts, that it would now be completed using a different holding company based in Luxembourg called Rossoneri Sport Investment.

I also don't see how Serie A is progressing. Many of the clubs are deep in debt, playing in old stadiums, have mediocre academies, etc. Italy's footballing infrastructure isn't as is much poorer than France's.

Monaco are having a firesale of what is arguably their greatest team ever.

Monaco has only sold players that are expendable. Mendy's being replaced by Jorge, a very highly rated Brazilian LB. They replaced their weakest link in Bakayoko with Youri Tieleman who's a better player already, while Silva will be replaced by Allan Saint-Maximin or Boschilia. Monaco is well be fine, same as they were after selling Kondogbia, Martial, and Carrasco.

History isn't irrelevant, because it's likely going to be decades before any French team can surpass them in prestige or accomplishments. Hell we might not even live to see it in our lifetime. :)

Do prestige and accomplishments win matches?

You can laugh now, but Nasser is heavily invested in increasing the profile of Ligue 1 and BeinSports is his platform. They have exclusive broadcasting rights to much of the Arab world while also having a significant presence in French, Italian, Spanish, and American markets. Adding Neymar will give the league leverage to request stronger broadcasting deals on top of inspiring more investment from sponsors.

Brazil is a big country, Neymar has a lot of fans, and you underestimate the viewership of the middle east + north africa.

Money doesn't buy everything, once again. The exposure Ligue 1 has is very limited compared to the elite leagues in Europe, Nasser and his cronies can invest Bein heavily to the point that it has a presence in every country, still who is going to watch the French league if the league itself is several notches down? You think one Neymar will completely reverse the dynamics? Too simple, too naive.

I don't know about how crazy the Brazilians are for P$G just because they have many Brazilian players, and I don't know how many people watch the French league outside France, but from the numbers of followers of various teams on the social media, French teams were blown out of the water by teams from other leagues.

The question is whether Serie A has been a much better league than the French league over the past 5 years. Juve winning half a dozen leagues in a row is bigger than the entire history of Ligue 1? That doesnt make any sense whatsoever. On the contrary, it shows a very dominant team in that league. The question is not which billionaire is buying which Italian club. Seems like you are fine with billionaires buying up teams in Italy? But not in France? Why?

He hasn't even spoken on the subject, just kept playing and training same as usual. That is not a circus.

Good. Would have been better if he left as a man rather than petulant child but it's his choice.
PSG and Neymar deserve each other.
