Did you see how Palencia often tackles with his left foot first, and if he doesn't succeed then turns around and does it again with the right foot? Does that remind you of someone?

Palencia is confirmed to be doing pre-season with Valverde. He'll get a chance to prove he deserves promotion. Lucho leaving is the best thing that could have happened for his career.

Just wait until our board uses this as an excuse to not sign a proper RB :crbust:

I like Palencia, he always works hard and seems like a decent lad but he shouldn't be anywhere near the main team atm. He's not good enough imo.

The problem with the fanbase is so many would rather write a young player off as "not good enough" before they even make their debut while simultaneously ripping their hair out at the train wreck of bad performances their high cost first team equivalents are shitting out.

Palencia being "Not good enough" isn't valid defense for going an entire season with no RB, especially since he's actually been our B team's best player and is performing as well as we could ask him to in the league he's in.

Nothing wrong with anyone thinking a young player is not good enough. It is not a 'problem with the fan base'.

Not being good enough is a perfectly valid reason not to get chances in first team whether RB is his natural position or not if believe there are other better RBs to play ahead of him.

He will get his chance this summer. Playing in diluted third tier doesnt prove all that much and even then I think he isnt good enough going forward to be a Barca full back. Will see what Valverde thinks of him.

I don't mind him being the 3rd choice RB and I agree, Lucho should have given him a chance when our RB situation was at it's direst. But I think he won't be good enough for Barcelona and I would be surprised if he ended as 2nd RB in here. I'm hoping that he proves me wrong but a little bit of realism is always good with youngsters, it's easier for him too if everybody won't be expecting him to do wonders.

We have plenty of 30m+ signings who aren't good enough coming in and don't impress with their previous clubs to warrant signing who get all the chances in the world even despite that.

There's not much of an argument to be made for whether he was worthy of a chance last season. Going forward Roberto was so poor Messi abandoned the right wing entirely, and in instances where Mascherano was forced to play there I'm pretty sure he had a shocker every time.

Whether he's good enough going forward really boils down to speed and not much else. Alba and Bellerin aren't "good" going forward, they're just fast. Hopefully Valverde sees more qualities in a player than their top sprint speed. I'd rather have a solid defender who can chip in on offensive side than another pace merchant who's brain often turns to mush in the few cases when they're not horribly out of position.

3rd choice? We don't even have a 1st choice mate, realism goes both ways.

A new RB with Palencia serving as a more defensive backup would be solid for that position.

Look at my first reply to your post. I think I was pretty clear that we need to buy a new RB.
