Agreed. He could've gotten down quicker. Maybe he was taken aback by Masch's mind fu!ckery. Sorry for the kid. The defense certainly didn't help him out with his debut today.

Not to blame for either of those goals.
Hopefully against Celtic defense won't let him down.

I feel bad for him. Poor guy has to start his Barca career off in a game where our entire team systematically collapses.

Not to blame but impossible to say it wasn't nothing to be done. Could have done better especially at the second goal..

Shame he premiered in our colours like that but the whole team was a let-down, defenders were out of their element as hell. Or maybe after the nice warm-up against Atleti last week, Alaves is on their way to win the league .. You heard it first here :pique1:

Sucks that Cillessen's debut was a let down due to the Horror show of Mathieu, Masche and Vidal. I hope it doesn't hurt his confidence going into the CL match.

Mathieu has nothing to do with Masch shit show.

Was still bad, hovering around the LB position leaving Masche alone. Was lucky Alaves didn't take full advantage of it.

Just came back from an injury and Lucho started him right away smh.

Ok, but Cilessen debut was a let down due to goals conceded and Mathieu was not involved in any of them.

That was my point.

Pretty much like I said in the Lucho thread. I just never could trust the Mathieu-Masche CB Partnership.

Felt like both don't nearly trust each other enough.

Oh yeah.

I didn't even realize this was the Cillessen thread until you mentioned it

I think it's more about both of them being aggressive than actual trust. Suddenly both leave their positions instead of holding it like Pique and Umtiti would.

It's not that Pique and Umtiti aren't aggressive either, but they're more balanced whereas Masche and Mathieu both are more inclined to charge forward and get the ball right away instead of cutting passing lanes or simply holding the defensive line intact. Bartra was the worst example of it. He always did it. Always.

It creates a lot of confusion. Add in Aleix Vidal's defensive incompetence and you have a deadly cocktail.

So what do you guys think? Should Mats be worried?

excuse me but i will rephrase it .. should Barcelona be worried with him and Ter Stegen as our keepers .. that's a far more relevant question to me as a barca fan . today the deutch demonstrated some shit keeping . while Stegen is struggling with injuries right now .. i thought he was Young and less inclined to having injuries .

Oh, is this more 'should have kept Bravo' nonsense?

You see how well he did today right?
