Luciano Vietto

From LOL which by the way says they "understand" that Vietto has chosen Sevilla over us because he wants playing time.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo insists they have not received an offer from Barcelona for Luciano Vietto.

"Vietto is an Atletico player at the moment and we have not made any decision as of yet. We have not received an offer from Barcelona," Cerezo was quoted as saying by Sport.

"It makes no sense to say he will go to Barcelona because there has not been any contact with them. He is still an Atletico player and is at Diego Simeone's disposal.

"But I am among those who thinks players should be at the club they want to be at. It is important to think about what the player wants.

"We want him to stay, but we will have to wait and see how things pan out."

Apparently is Jonas from Benfica. He's 32, though.

How is he compared to Soriano?

I'm not that good with all the stats so forgive me. But did he not score 20 or so goals while on loan at Villareal ? The guy has shown he can score goals.

Just looked it up had about 18 goals in 26 games for Villareal which is great. Maybe the Atletico system didn't suit him.

I posted a lot on this thread with the news and while I do hope he joins us, I don't blame him for going to Sevilla.

It's truly the hardest position to reinforce in the squad of ours is the Back up #9. We want younger players but like Vietto they would love to join but the lack of Playing time just makes it hard for them to do so.
If we can't get a younger player we will likely get a older Forward like Jonas.

Honestly I wouldn't mind keeping Munir around for another season.

It is very possible, Gameiro didn't play the friendly against SV Sandhausen today and is expected to be joining Atletico soon, and it is said that Sevilla would not have done that if they had not secured someone.

Even though I am not that enthusiastic about us getting Vietto, I wonder if the club has a plan B should Vietto decide to join Sevilla.

I think Sevilla is very close to signing our other alternative, Lucas Perez. So they sell Gameiro, get Perez, Atletico sells Vietto, gets Gameiro, and we get Vietto. :p

It wouldn't be a normal summer without a saga.

It's not like we are chasing a player like Dybala etc. If he doesn't come, I couldn't possibly care less. If he does, then good. Just get it done fast so he can join our pre-season ASAP.

Supporters are concerned because they're emotionally invested in the success of their club, and the club has limited resources. I don't see why a fan wouldn't be concerned about the financial well being of their club.

Well, sure, and obviously that's what the forum is for - commenting on current events in the club, and that's all fine and dandy. But I don't see why someone should be worried about whether we paid 25+20 or 35+15 or whatever (as long as it's not something horrific like over 100 million). These are not figures that will endanger the financial wellbeing of the club. Or to put it differently, I don't see why we as supporters should care more about the exact figure than we should about whether the player will be good. Too often I see stuff along the lines of "if we can get him under ___M, I'll be happy". I mean, what's in it for you? You'll be happy if he plays well, and you'll be sad if he doesn't. Whether the club paid 25 or 35 million for the player shouldn't be of much importance to you when you're watching him play.

I like him, but if he is doubtful to join the best team of the world, he can politely fuck off, period

Well said!!! He should come running, instead we beg him to come...a player who scored 1 goal last season.
