Laudrap and iniesta same level imo. Iniesta at his peak can be comparable to messi, that is how good he was.

I didn't even say he is better or as good as messi. Just comparable, especially on skill level. But you fanboys don't want anyone to be compared to messi. Ronaldo is compared to messi all the time, at his peak iniesta is better player than Ronaldo. Ronaldo consistently stayed at his peak. Iniest not so much that is the only difference. Seriously guys iniesta is also a barca player and remember what Rooney said after Cl final that iniesta was our best player. Now I think he is very underrated here. After messi he is the guy I enjoy most watching.

Crazy people compare Ronaldo to Messi, and strictly on the goal scoring aspect, not on dribbling, Iniesta is not "comparable" to Messi in dribbling, he's crazy good at keeping the ball and dribbling with it, but NOT Messi level.

It has nothing to do with being a fanboy or anti-iniesta (which you're trying to make it look like), let alone the disrespect of calling people "uncapable to appreciate true talent and artists".

This is the very last place you'll find people not loving Iniesta, but you'll get called on it when you say crazy stuff like you did.

Iniesta is as good as messi in keeping the ball while dribbling, i think he does it with more elegance. Messi has the advantage of change in pace that is what makes him even more dangerous but skill wise both are comparable. Hell even they are comparing hazard to messi now i don't see why iniesta can't be compared to messi. And comparing two players doesn't necessarily both are at same level exactly, it just means they are close. If you guys are thinking i am saying messi and iniesta are equal, nope i did not say that. I just think they are comparable and he comes second after messi.

Iniesta has not shown that he can dribble in forward areas like Messi can. Hazard can also dribble in the final third pretty well, that's why he gets compared to Messi dribbling wise. Even then, for sheer skill he can't match Messi either. In the forward lines, the marking is tighter and the defending is more aggressive and last ditch.

Let's not make it look like Iniesta and Messi have the same level of dribbling. Iniesta is extremely good at creating space with his dribbles and getting out of tight situations when he's not being attacked. But when he runs out of room in the front line, he's not even at Messi's level in keeping the ball. Because neither is he as fast as Messi nor is he as strong. Physically, Messi is very far ahead of Iniesta.

Add to that Messi's phenomenal vision and passing ability and once-in-a-generation scoring ability, and it's not fair to compare Iniesta at his peak to Messi. Ronaldo IS comparable, but only goal-scoring wise. Ronaldo's goal-scoring is also once-in-a-generation and he should be lauded for that. In the general media, he gets compared to Messi because he plays for Madrid, he's a superstar and they need the comparison to maintain their cash flows.

Sorry about that. We all appreciate Iniesta here, but his main (only) advantage over Messi is that, at his prime, he affected all 90 min of the game being a midfielder, while Messi's impacts were in bursts.

Okay i don't want to argue about it, even i know messi is better than iniesta at dribbling. But i think iniesta is the second best dribbler and maybe hazard is close to iniesta level now. Also messi most of his dribbling style is based on his change of pace he can even dribble great with touch and skill too but i feel like iniesta dribbling is predominately with his skill on the ball and his extraordinary touch and does it better. There is no doubt messi can dribble players more than any other player.

And thanks you gave me an excuse to watch his extremely good dribbling skill and ball retention again. He was such a joy to watch, if only he improved with age like robben.

I think what you are saying is mostly about what you'd most like to watch. Iniesta has a certain elegance to him that Messi does not have. Probably because everything Iniesta does seems to be going so much slower. I like watching it too. But he is undoubtedly not as good of a player. Iniesta's best skills are dribbling, control, and passing. Messi is a better dribbler and at least an equal passer. I think there's a case to be made that Iniesta has better first touch and control. But that's questionable, and obviously Messi is one of the greatest goalscorers in history on top of all this. So I think it's pretty obvious that Messi is the better player. But I agree that prime Iniesta was an absolute joy to watch. But, of course, being the most fun to watch isn't the same as being the best. For instance, I'd much prefer watching Ronaldinho to Messi. Ronaldinho does outrageous and unexpected stuff, while Messi is just brutally efficient. But Messi is certainly better than Ronaldinho. Same with Iniesta. You may prefer watching his slower elegance to Messi's more frenzied directness, but Messi is better. And I'm someone who rates Iniesta above Zidane, so I am certainly no Iniesta hater.

But it also can be..

I won't get into that Hazard argument you threw in there but I can't say I agree with that either (strictly speaking about dribbling).

lessthanjake I think you are more or less right. And yes there can be a case made for iniesta to have better first touch and control. But hard to say who is better exactly.
