Lliga: Barca - Valencia 2-0

The changes had to be made.

Put a full strength team out today and he would have to do the same on Tuesday.

It's impossible to play 3 huge games in 6 days with the same team.

We need to grind this out.

Problem is that we didn't ''grind'' this out. We were simply lucky. Just like in the away match. He did all the right thing in the second half though. Also just like in that game. Rotation is okay, even against Valencia, but why in fucking hell he chooses to put starting formation that hasn't been working two previous times once again? This is mental.

Valencia thrashed us in the 1st half. Bravo defended a penalty. Had he not, I think we'd lose. They hit the post once, and could had scored multiple times.
LE made adjustments in the second half, and the team improved. Messi scored in the last minute.

Cheers Flavia. :)

Sounds like I would have been a emotional wreck if I had been able to watch it

I am really surprised that we still risk playing Masche as DM when we see time and time again how little control of the game we have with him there. He just cant pass intelligently from the back and we lose posession, stability and control of the game. It was obvious against Real Madrid, so why do this again?

Hi guys. Only just got in. Can anyone give me a quick summary of the match. 2 - 0 against Valencia seems good but it sounds like we didn't play well judging by these comments.

Hey dude. This is how I see it:

First half was legit one of the worst of the season, largely due to playing Busi and Masch in midfield. Neither really knew their role, and subsequently, that messed up our defense, especially down the left (Adriano :( ) We were really, really lucky to get to half time at one nil.

Half time, we brought Rak on for Adriano, a great move from Lucho. Second half was one of the best halfs we've had all season. Possession-ed them off the park, Rak proving a massive difference. Our back line were really outstanding, Masch was reading the game so much better, Mathieu was moving into positions for Neymar (who was excellent defensively) to pick up the ball and soak up pressure. We didn't create a whole pile -- Messi looked exhausted -- but in a very Simeone way, we were impossible to beat. I would say we gave up one half-chance in the second-half. Also, brought on Sergi Roberto for a tiring Xavi and he was very astute, filling the gaps, ticking over, another good move.

Summation - First half = bad, second half = brilliant - team looked very tired, lots of good moves by Lucho, and great organization and mental strength. I'm impressed.

It was also predictible that at this pace Valencia's players would run out of gas and this is exactly what happened. Without the individual mistakes from Alves, Adriano,Neymar, Piqué and Mathieu, the game could have been quite easier.

Those mistakes shall be worked on during training, but I doubt that any big team will try to play like Valencia, this would be suicidal against a fit Barca.

Is it just me or are the player really showing non-challence/complacency/idontgiveafuck attitude every time we play at 4 ?

Everyone making mistake, going on the ball half assed, backpassing to death ... ?

To avoid Valencia's counter-attacks and it worked. Problem is exactly what you're saying : Mascherano as a DM = less control.

Considering an exhausting game vs PSG only 3 days ago and a high-pressuring Valencia side with tons of quality in defense as well as attack, we did well. First half was atrocious though and Lucho's decision to field this midfield + Adriano surely didn't help. He fixed everything in the 2nd half though and I enjoyed the game again. It's a great win vs a great team.

Rakitic showed how important balance is. Also, it's not coincidence (even with so many criticism of Andres form) why Busi-Raki-Iniesta is our best setup.

Guys on twitter still saying Dani was awful. I hate the favoritism at this club sometimes. :(
