I wonder if Ter Stegen is starting to regret his decision to join Barca. In every other club he would be the starting GK, but here he gets benched for a strictly average Bravo  Lucho wtf are you doing?!

I don't think so.

He is here only for short time and he is still 22. He is the future of barca and i think club will not fuck up in his situation. At least i hope.

Bravo can be safely benched this match. TBH, I'm becoming more and more disappointed with Lucho, he is starting to remind me of Tata with his questionable squad selections. One does not simply bench a GK who has been injured for a considerable period and who is probably a bit rusty, and who will play against a club with deadly attack like PSG in a competition of the caliber of UCL. Are you kidding me?

Lucho had been proven pretty stubborn already. His obsession with Marquinhos, his decision to sign Douglas etc.

You guys need to calm down. Bravo played 5 matches so far and conceded 0 goals, you can't justify benching someone like him, it might create tension within the squad

Blurred distinctions between "benching" and "rotating" though, and he could easily rotate him for this match without any unfair implications.

What makes you think MAtS will start against PSG?

Then when would he play? And if he is fit but does not start, why has the club bought him? To be fair, MAts should have been the starting GK in LL as soon as he got the green light from medical department. If Bravo starts because MAts is not sharp enough, then at least make Stegen the starting GK for next LL matches to get him in form for UCL. That's my 2¢.

EDIT: when I say MAtS should have been the starting GK in LL, I mean Lucho should occasionally rotate him with Bravo, for one or two matches at least, as MAtS could easily handle the Liga clubs we've faced so far. I trust in MAtS and believe he would make a great perfomance not only today but on Tuesday as well.

How do you expect Ter Stegen to show what he can without actually playing? And if he doesn't even play in the CL against PSG then it's clear to me that Bravo was already the designed starter in spite of Luis Enrique's comments and it wouldn't have mattered if he hadn't got injured or not.

It also shows why Bravo in a press conference said that he is not worried about playing since he 'knows who bought him'.

The whole thing smacks favoritism.

Bravo has not conceded a goal yet, why would you drop him for Ter Stegen? I want Mats in goal long term but right now Bravo is showing himself to be a top keeper and deserves his chance. I am disappointed Bartra is not starting but there must be a reason that 3 coaches now don't trust him and it seems neither does Del Bosque.

If Bravo starts against PSG and does not concede any goal (supposed the defenders don't screw him), then I'll say he's a top keeper. I hope he keeps the amazing perfomance he displayed against Brazil in World Cup's round of 16 though.

MAtS is the future, no question about it.

Not at Barca. Quote my post in a couple of years time.

Without sounding like a broken record, I maintain Lucho and co will want to justify Bravo's 12m € tag. He was their signing, and will remain their #1 as long as they're dictating things. They will give him the platform to succeed, regardless of his performances. Lucho's reaction to Bravo's Napoli howler was very telling. Moreover, the fact that he asked for another GK to be signed despite having 2 competent keepers on his roster suggests he's not really believer in Mats' talent. People will say i'm overreacting, but its getting evident by the day. Mou didn't think twice about benching Cech (despite his PL stature and being last season's Golden glove) and put Courtois in goal who was also a newbie in the PL. It shows he rates him and thought long-term.
To put in to perspective, Lucho had no qualms giving an unknown Brazilian his debut in a difficult away fixture, whilst he doesn't deem MAtS capable to hold his own against Granada at home. Bravo is our #1 for the foreseeable future for better or for worse. I can see one of our B keepers taking over when the record breaking and conqueror of Artola, is deemed unwanted.

It also shows why Bravo in a press conference said that he is not worried about playing since he 'knows who bought him'.

You're slowly learning. :D

But if bravo fucks up (which i don't want to happen) i am sure lucho will try mats in all cl games and soon la liga too. I still think mats will start against PSG though.

^ yeah, we've only faced average clubs so far in LL, none of them close to RM or AM quality. He simply hadn't much work to do.
