What's the logic behind that affirmation? We have two CBs more than we did last year. If the best CBs aren't available, you take what you can. No CB at all was the worst scenario. We learned from last season and bought what was available, instead of waiting for some miracle CB to drop in our lap. That's the reality, we roll with what we have.
Wants out, last year of contract, injury prone, bench player with 7 starts (due to other players injured) last season, injured right now. 19m sounds about right
We'll see exactly how injury prone he is. A lot of players look more fragile than they really are in that league. And 19m. is a pretty decent sum in a fucked up transfer market.

Rubbish article, that guy has some sort of problem with Barca. Vermaelen was not sure he would get playing time at Barca and that is why he was hesitant to sign. Arsenal let him go, but lets see how smart a move that was.
Vermaelen is a really good defender that can help out the squad, we are desparate for CD'S and everyone knows it so overpaying was always going to happen. Now we have got new defenders that should help us out in negotiations next summer.

19m euros? Wtf... For 13m it was acceptable, but 19m? Wenger making a fool out of Zubi and co again. Jesus.

Considering we payed considerably more for the flopest of flops, and that in Pep's golden era, it's not that much of a big deal we payed 19m. for Vermaelen.
20M for Mathieu seems like a steal when you pay 19M for a player like Vermaelen. FFS

No. I watched him during his time in Lyon.
This guy is average, you have no reason to over-rate him.
I still remember how I mentioned Lovren in the transfer-section some weeks ago and it got laughed off because not Barca-quality. But hey, at least we got Vermaelen
Rakitic was average at Schalke too, players improve.

The only reason it that its 19m euros is because United were willing to pay around that mark as well.
