Xavi Hernández

A disgraceful interview to push Powerpoint Font. It must really hurt that Flick showed the world, that these players are indeed competitive. Since they can't attack from the sporting side, they try it the other way around now.

If it's just a simple truth and not a campaign, why wait with this interview until election week? Why risk agitation before an important CL knock-out match? A classic stab in the back. They all think about their own personal fights, not about the club or the team.
All the red cards during his coaching career showed his innerself as well. Xavi can fuck off back to the desert, he'll never have Iniesta's character. Thankfully his miserable coaching skills reduced the weight of his words, so Laporta has nothing to fear.
Xavi's tenure is naturally going to be a topic of the re election debate. If Laporta didn't want these things to be discussed, he should have held it at another time.

It is normal that these topics or others will be brought up during a re-election campaign, and if it does cause dressing room disruption, it is Laporta's fault, he should have held the election later.

Why naturally, is Xavi running for presidency? No, he just recently, like 2-3 weeks ago, attended one of Font's campaigns. Before he kept quiet, so there was no information about Xavi shitting all over the campaign. In any case, this behaviour is an absolute disgrace of an ex-player. Or do you see any other ex-player doing similar things? For good reason, nobody wants to sink that low and harm the club and their own reputation. But Xavi's personal vendetta is more important to him. A selfish prick in the end.

Because he was in charge for nearly 3 years during Laporta's tenure so his experience/that period of the club will be highly relevant when discussing Laporta's performance so far.

Yes, his comments have come during the election week, but that is because they are topical, and I don't think Xavi is making a secret of opposing Laporta's re-election. In this interview he states there needs to be a top-down change at Barca.

As such I don't think its an endorsement of Font more than it is him opposing Laporta. He is likely only backing Font because he is the alternative.

He, who coached barca into mediocrity, dragging his amateur brother with him to gift him a big paycheck, which is the very definition of nepotism, is the last person who should tell others about how to run the club.

I supported him most of the time, but this step was too much. He put his own agenda before the club and the team. No other ex-player did this.

Remember, it was Laporta himself who hired him off the basis of his name, whilst many warned he needed more experience before taking this job.

Also when Roberto "his friend" came to him and asked him "do you really want me out?". That speaks a lot of team atmosphere at the time. They felt entitled to their places in the team because they are friends with the manager and he gladly accepted it

And Jordi Cruyff is Johan's son so he should be the living personification and an example of this club?

A LOT of things in this interview don't really go in Xavi's favour at all. I don't know if he is fully aware of that. He tried shitting on Laporta and to a degree managed to do it but he also buried himself here with many statements.
I was astonished by how poorly he came off in his own PR outreach.

An own goal and self own that even Lenglet might be jealous of.

Xavi exposed?

🗣️ President Laporta: "It was Jorge Messi who came to my house and told me that they were going to Miami to live a calm life with less pressure."

🗣️ Javier Tebas (La Liga president): "It was not true that La Liga had given the green light to sign Leo Messi."

🗣️ Jaume Roures (Mediapro CEO): "Xavi is not saying the truth. La Liga had not authorized nor given the green light to sign Messi. This is about the electoral campaign. He's going with Victor Font and does not want Laporta to win."

🗣️Leo Messi in 2023: "I wanted to take my own decision. This is why I did not sign for Barcelona. I heard that they had to sell players and or reduce salaries to sign me. I didn't want to be responsible for that."

🗣️ Xavi himself in 2023: "It has not been an easy decision for Messi. It was actually Jorge Messi who called the club and said Leo won’t come to the club."
