The supporter who fell ill in connection with Finland's World Championship qualifying match against Poland on Tuesday evening has died, announces the police and the Finnish Football Association.

It was after just over 70 minutes of play in Finland's 2–1 win over Poland that a spectator became ill in the stands. The match was interrupted for over 40 minutes while the teams' two doctors and medical staff worked with heart-lung resuscitation.

RIP. :(

I would have France over Portugal, but this seems spot on.

Colombia over Morocco if Colombia get their mojo back.

Portugal will not win the tournament with Ronaldo in the team or that clown as coach.

And, in general, they're just not a World Cup winning nation. They fluked the Euros in 2016 but other than that they just don't give the energy of a country that can win the world title.

The winner will be from the usual suspects. Argentina, Spain, France, Germany, England, maybe Brazil despite their vast decline. The superpowers (other than England, lol). The idea that Morocco or Colombia, the Netherlands or even Portugal will have a really good chance of winning it is absolute pie in the sky. That's like thinking Brighton or Aston Villa can win the PL. Okay you get the occasional miracle (Greece, Leicester) but it is rare.

Seen Portugal bottle so many tournaments when people 'fancy them' hat I know they have no chance. People were saying this in 2022 too. I wrote them off then as well.

Honestly, can see Portugal fluking their way. Especially with the new format in which 3rd place team can go to a different bracket (similar to the Euros 2016 where Portugal got the easier bracket)

Still confident that Argentina can beat Portugal, but of course not underestimating them as they are better than in 2022.

They'd need to fluke it. It would be a huge upset.

How are they better now with Ronaldo four years older and still playing and destabilising them, and the coach being worse? Yes, they have brought through some superior players, but that will take second stage relative to the Ronaldo and Martinez factors.

We heard all this about Portugal before every tournament and they always underperformed. They underperformed in 2016 too, they just got lucky.

We heard this before Euro 2024 - 'Portugal are a real threat' 'watch out for Portugal'. I wrote them off and was right to do so.

Every time they play a top team in the knockout stage Ronaldo is invisible and they go out.

The likes of Vitinha, Neves, Mendes, Conceicao and Neto are better than their counterparts in 2022. Costa is more experienced too in GK.
