No way, and then do what?
Think they might be ok with this as a transition period without trophies. Can't imagine they expect a coach like Arbeloa to miraculously lead this team to titles short term.

You win CL as a main player at Barcelona you get carte blanche to be shit for 4-5 years because you were great at some point 3 years ago.

dont those players get credit though for their past wins etc? Who fires their coach voluntarily after constantly delivering huge trophies?
Barca won 4 in 10, everything was clicking and then they killed themselves with overpaying for flops, huge wage as you pointed out etc

Because Barca is not as big of a club as Madrid. You see Madrid as the definitive elite club, and Barcelona as the artistic huge highs low lows club. Madrid is more successful for a reason.
People that support and are drawn to Barca are at least partial to the romanticist aspects of life. Madrid is the more effective model and the fanbase is a big reason for this.
Barca fans are somewhat of a juxtaposition to Federer fans, both value aesthethics a huge lot. I am one of those. For me Barcelona will always be the best, because they pursue that entire ideal package, but on logical terms it is not the best or the most reliable approach.
Being idealist by nature, you always look at what other parties do better and are drawn to that as well.

Well, Barca is top 5 club ever.
Real Madrid is real madrid, others are just clubs.
But Barca from 2006 to 2015 won more than 99 percent of teams win in their history.
They are just more ruthless with their icons, thats mostly all there is to it.
