No way.
They broke an 8 year standing world transfer record, TWICE, for the last 2 ballon d'or winners.
Then they added one of the best midfielders in EPL, and the best CF prospect in smaller league.
That 2009 summer was wild

Wow, they really took it too personal. Funny how the next season they went trophyless and the only thing that made them smile was Inter preventing Barcelona from going back to back in the Bernabeu. But if you think about it, it was for the better for both clubs Icl.

I know Kaka did not work out, and they spent a fortune (especially for the time), but Ronaldo, Alonso and Benzema really was excellent business. Ronaldo and Benzema were really good for them for many years.
Though their league title record is still pretty disappointing in recent decades (2 in Ronaldo's 9 years there). They live for the CL.

I thought the actual reason being club finally addressing obvious issues such as playing without defense for entire season. Thanks for clarifying it for me.

Striker is a good signings for them. It was a clear weakness.
