Edwards is getting Huijsen anyways. Not too worried.

The only player I am scared of losing is VVD. He carries the team and system. Has been carrying the system since the day he joined us.

He's the first true all time great player in your club's history tbh. In terms of ability, not just trophies.

Which is pretty insane, given the trophy haul, but Pool has some of the best collection of managers instead. Shankly, Paisley, Jurgen are all top 10-15 managers all time.

Manager driven club, rather than player driver RM and Barca.

Daglish, Gerrard, Keegan, Souness, etc are all timers.

All-time great has a very specific meaning. And is a very high bar.

Top 50 players ever ideally, and maybe top 100 if you really want to stretch the criteria.

VVD would definitely fall in the top 50 ever. Kenny and Gerrard just don't have that level of skillset and peak level. I know you like to dance for Gerrard but he won 0 PL and actually threw away a title. Nothing of note with England either  Still, you could consider arguments to sneak them into the 50-100 range. But only as a shout.

There are so many actual all-time greats from so many great clubs and nations. It's not easy.

Gerard's wiki intro. At one point, Pele, Zidane and Maldini called him the best player in the world too. Suarez said Gerrard was the best midfielder he ever played with in a Barca YouTube channel interview.

Also he was insane in terms of eye test. Could do everything to a very high level. Easily one of the most complete players ever.

"Steven George Gerrard (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player. Widely regarded as one of Liverpool's greatest ever players and also as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, Gerrard spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool and the England national team, captaining both."

So great, that the trophy haul is 1 CL (albeit a great one in fairness) and nothing else of note really.

All-time great midfielders are the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, ZZ, Matthaus, Modric, Kroos, Platini, Rijkaard, Pirlo etc.

"Regarded by several pundits and footballing figures as one of the greatest players of his generation, in 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pele considered Gerrard to be possibly the best footballer in the world. Known for his versatility and wide range of skills, he was capable of playing in many positions. A hardworking box-to-box player with great endurance in his prime, Gerrard was usually deployed as a central midfielder, but he had also been used as a second striker, a holfing midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a right back, and a right winger."

Watch how players who played with him talked about him. Even United guys like Keane, Rooney, Rio and the cunts at Redcafe acknowledge his insane ability everywhere on the pitch.

He carried a mediocre team throughout his career. Similar to Totti.

Real Madrid, Chelsea, United, Inter tried to sign him multiple times but he didn't leave.

He's getting punished for his loyalty.

The fact that he dragged a bunch of absolute clowns to a CL against an all time great Milan says it all. Have you seen that 2005 team?

When have I said he wasn't a really good player  He's like KDB IMO. Best in the world in his position or thereabouts for some time, but all-time great is transcendent level of play and domination. Meaning they can't deal with you.

And yes, I've seen that final. Milan had much more quality obviously but it wasn't complete bums. You were KOing prime Chelsea all the time and made the final again in 07 (actually KOing R10's Barca on the way). He was the best Pool player on the night but the others weren't bums. Dudek double save on Shevchenko is something Stegen would never pull in 20 years.

Alonso and Hyypia were great obviously. Carragher was good. Riise and Garcia were underrated.

Overall it was a crap team for a CL final. We weren't even good in the league that season.

You didn't really address my point of how this supposed team of complete bums was knocking out other great sides of that time in KOs, not just Milan.

Or what Dudek pulled off for a supposed complete bum on that night.
