Dead ass league lol. Made a fair few sheets from the goalless draws at Palace and Forest today. Can't complain.

If the bookies ever start offering the chance to bet AGAINST someone getting a shot on target I will absolutely clean up. At half time there was only around 5 shots on target in the EPL across 3 games.

Fucking lol.

What if La Liga has less in semis or final?

We just ignore group, last 16, semis and final?

Depends on the draw also.. Barca and Atleti should always be dealing with Newcastle and Spurs.

If 6 EPL teams go through CL table and got out to PSG, Real Madrid, Atleti and Barca. Not too bad. Other than City should be doing better.

Who gives a shite about groups?

So, if City should do better, then what is left of EPL in Europe? Arsenal, that's it?

Newcastle and Tottenham should be dealth with, Chelsea about the same. City should be doing better, Liverpool failing to score for 180 mins vs Galatasaray, not much to write home about...

Might be harder to deal with Newcastle than Chelsea btw. They are going down after sacking Maresca. So all that line-up of 6 teams only has 1 top class team that doesn't tend to shite the bed. So far.

6 teams through the groups is good going.

EPL is the best league going by far.

Their top 2/3 teams are in and out of being the best or behind Bayern/PSG/Real/Barca across time.

Nothing really different from that this season.

What determines the best league each season?

EPL has been terrible entertainment-wise for a couple of years and more and more watchers of the league, English people included, are saying this. It's not a grand conspiracy to bring down the league, it just sucks because of the reliance on set pieces/corners and PnP. The commercialization of the league also killed the atmosphere at many stadiums, making it pedestrian and librarial.

The top teams are not that strong (when you take into account the overall level of the league and allocation of money) and thanks to the TV deals, everyone can spend and set up a solid squad (and defense), so the newly promoted teams can put up a fight more easily than clubs from other leagues by shutting up shop.

Personally I don't watch the EPL anymore. The big games feel like a chore to watch, so I just stopped. Background noise at most.

Of course rarely you get a cracking game, but the amount of dross you have to endure before you encounter a diamond like that is not worth it.

Each to their own but what league are folk claiming is better to watch?

La Liga? Where can watch the mighty Alexis Sanchez and Neil Maupay at teams like Sevilla?

EPL games being tighter doesnt make it less of a spectacle really as more quality on show and more at stake.

Folk who like La Liga teams saying dont watch EPL as much is fine. Most folk in UK barely watch La Liga at all as interest has plumetted in that also as general quality so low outside top 2/3 at best.

Watching Barca and Real scud teams with Maupay and Sanchez up top is not what casuals will have much interest in either.

"Through 28 weeks, Premier League teams have combined for 505 open-play goals -- the fewest since the 2020-21 pandemic season. And if we remove that one season in the history of England's top flight when there were no fans in the stands, then this is the lowest-scoring season from open play since 2009-10.

Teams have only put 1,659 open-play shots on target so far this season -- by far the lowest in Opta's 17-season dataset, and 300-plus shots fewer than in either of the past two seasons.

Prefer pretty passing to goalmouth action? Well, you've been bored to death this year, too: teams have completed 48,248 open-play passes in the attacking third. That's the lowest since 2011-12 and nearly 10,000 fewer than we saw either last year or the year before."

More goalless draws than in any of the previous 3 seasons already as well.

They won't answer this.

Serie A has been more unpredictable recently but the quality of their games is nothing to shout about.

If anything, the Bundesliga probably has the most free flowing attacking Football these days.

CL is the most watchable and exciting competition (and big international tournaments), and if you only follow big teams, then yes, La Liga, Serie A and Bayern/PSG games are more exciting than the EPL games, easily, including both big games and games against minnows.

EPL has become too competitive and data-driven for its own good. It's become very risk-averse. Surely you are noticing that.

If the Conference league has more goals from open play does it become more exciting than CL?

Of course not.

Part of the excitement is watching top players, what is at stake and what can happen next.

Yes it's boring, but the quality is high? The fuck no it isn't.

It's boring, and the quality is average at best.

People are looking at the names and basically trying to say, "Oh, even when they aren't playing exciting football, the quality is high."

When was the last time Liverpool played quality football? As an example.

Teams are playing not to lose, more so than to win.

The EPL the last two seasons is getting to the point La Liga and Serie A were when they were at the tail end of being the best league in their time. The only difference is there is so much money in the league that if they care to, they can change it before the fall-off fully settles in.

Liverpool had some cracking games this season.

Newcastle v Liverpool 2-3 was far far better than either Newcastle v Barca game for example.

Dream on. There wont be a fall off in EPL in that way.

Too much money.
