Lamh is class but Alves is way better fullback. Cafu as well. Lamh could play in different position like pivot under Pep but Alves throughout his career mostly served as an attacking midfielder when he pushed forward.
And Maicon didn't bench Alves. Alves played as winger/attacking midfielder in 2010 World Cup and he was Brazil's best player in 2010 WC. It had nothing to do with player quality but rather coach's tactic. Dunga thought Maicon fit better as a right back in his team and Alves could excel as a winger/attacking mid. Mind you that Lucho also played Rodri as a centre back in 2022 World Cup and grandpa Busquets was the pivot.
Lamh's international career is better but Alves isn't bad either. Won Copa America as best player, also Olympic gold.
Club's career Alves is way clear. He was great from Sevilla to Barca to Juve.
So as a right back:
1. Alves
2. Cafu
3. Lamh
I may add Thuram, Zanetti as a better right back than Lamh as well. Doesn't change that Lamh is class.
